Nelia Gardens

The transfer took over an hour from the airport and on arrival reception was cordial and we were allocated a room on the top floor. This was no problem for us over 70’s because there was a lift and our balcony got the afternoon sun for a couple of hours after the pool was in shadow (about 3 o'clock in November). A/c was no extra charge and we needed it to cool the room before sleeping because the weather was mid 80’s everyday. Breakfast at the Nelia was buffet style with plenty choice including English. The bacon and sausage isn’t the best but that’s typical abroad. The 5 minute walk to the Nelia Beach for lunch and dinner was worth it because the complex was up market compared with the gardens. The food was good quality and plenty of choice and the evening entertainment was better than you usually get. Some nights we returned early to the Nelia Gardens bar after dinner to watch the footy on multi screen tv’s. The Nelia Beach does have sport on tv but the tv area is much smaller and the picture is fuzzy., Most of the staff were friendly and helpful . We realise other peoples experience might differ at busier times of year but we don’t expect to be waited on hand and foot at any time and won't hesitate to go back if we get a good deal. One negative going back was passport control at the airport. It took an eternity to get through and was hot and overcrowded and once through you are harassed to speed up at the conveyor belt.

Just returned home after staying here for a week,our room was lovely and big with pool view,it was cleaned everyday by our lovely maid ,sunbeds easy to get and was the best weve ever lay on ,we stayed allinclusive,the bar was a let down,drinks was tasteless (diet coke ) tasted like some cleanimg product ,drinks was in small plastic cups, we had to pay to get better drinks,bar staff was misserable,didnt acknowledge is at all , especially the two young girls , the men did try and gave us a smile , the breakfast was always cold ,so pleased we had to have lunch and dinner at the Nelia Beach hotel,food was amazing ,always hot and plenty to choose from ,desserts where to die for , staff where lovely and friendly ,wish we had booked to stay at the Nelia Beach instead of Nelia Gardens

On arrival it was a smooth quick check in. Rooms are basic but very clean, fridge and safety deposit box included free of charge. Bathroom big with a walk in shower, toiletries and a change of towels daily. Pool is quite small, loungers are very comfortable however as the building is so overlooked not everyone gets the sun. Plenty beds available in November, I could imagine this would be a problem in the height of summer. Breakfast was available in hotel, lunch and dinner had to be eaten at nelia beach (sister hotel) which is a 2 minute walk. Meals very beautiful with plenty of choice. Drinks are very limited on the AI package and are generally given in plastic glasses, whilst we were told only paying guests got glass. It was said as though we have not paid, but hello we actually paid when booking the holiday. After dinner you can stay in nelia beach for entertainment and can use the AI for drinks. Free sunbeds on the beach for all guests. Location fantastic. Would definitely recommend however if I was to return I would stay at the nelia beach.

We stayed here as a family of 4 for a last minute week in the sun. We booked all inclusive. We flew back last week (21 Oct). The reception staff were helpful and we were swiftly checked in. The room was clean, although the kids had to sleep on fold out chair beds. Not ideal. My husband and I had 2 single beds. I like a hard bed so this was fine for me. the maids were great, and the towels were changed, beds made every day. The pool is very basic, with only a handful of beds. The beds were really comfy padded sun bathing beds. If you could get one. Lilos and balls seemed to be allowed in the pool. Breakfast is served in the hotel bar (which is actually not a hotel bar. Its a bar open to the public called the Crown, which hotel guests are allowed to use). Breakfast wasn't great. Lots of choice for fruit, pastries, hot cooked, cereal etc. but the quality was bad. So much so that I only had breakfast twice our entire stay. Rubbery bacon, funny tasting eggs, and watery orange juice. We are told that snacks are served in the bar (the Crown) for AI guests. Whilst this is correct, the snacks offered are not the same quality or standard of food that paying guests receive from the same kitchen. We ordered "snacks" one day instead of getting up for the breakfast. Burgers, spag bol, cheese toastie, pizza and chips. It was crap- completely opposite to what the paying customers got. Keep in mind that as an AI customer, we had already paid upfront for our food and drinks. The owner of the Crown would do good to keep this in mind. His staff were rude to us. Not to actual paying customers, just AI customers. We had to go to the bar, (no big issue) but had to wait longer than the paying customers. We were only served in small plastic glasses, even when drinking on an evening in the bar. For proper lunch and dinner you have to walk to the Nelia Beach hotel (which is actually a 4 star and much better hotel). Its less than 5 mins away and the food was actually decent for an AI. Mexican night was lovely in particular. Kids were happy as there was pizza, chips, nuggets, fish fingers. The salad bar is very good and there was different food every day on the hot counter. Very clean and the waiting staff were lovely. We hardly had breakfast, or snacks, and ate out at least 4 (lunch and dinner) times over the week. So I would not recommend this hotel on an All inclusive basis. The Crown don't deserve the custom. I would recommend on a self catering basis. Although our room had no kitchen facilities as we were AI. the location is fantastic. 5 mins to the beach (behind the Beach Hotel) and 5 mins to the *****/square where luckily there was a McDs, KFC, hard rock cafe and lots of little bars and shops. We all agreed we would return to Ayia Napa but next time if we were AI we would not be staying here.

Stayed here for a few nights for my 30th birthday Rude staff The beds in prison are probably more comfortable than the beds at this hotel Had to ask for fresh towels Rude staff,, noticed they were nice to paying customers Had to travel around the corner to a different hotel for our dinner Was told their was snacks between 9pm and 10pm then was offered a cheese sandwich even tho the kitchen was open for paying customers I was all inclusive and was told I could order something from the menu and would have to pay for it. Don't waste your money it's an expensive hotel for extra hassle The room was filthy aswell and stunk of mouldy drains

We have just had another fabulous stay here and would highly recommend Nelia Gardens without any hesitation. Indeed, we are already booked to return next year! Nelia is a little gem of a place and everything about it is just perfect. The rooms, bar, pool area and gardens are all very well maintained and spotlessly clean. Even though it was very busy it was still peaceful, calm and quiet, both during the day and at night. Excessive noise from people was rare and didn't last long - maybe they were asked to tone it down? All the staff we met were very pleasant, friendly, professional and helpful. They set high standards and provide exceptional service, which we really appreciate. A big thank you everyone at Nelia for another perfect stay.

Just returned from this hotel and what a gem.1st class staff we were always given a lovely welcome from reception and Maria the life guard.Got to mention Frosa,Olga,Tanya,Memet and Nigel from reception and our fantastic house person Elaine,we were all inclusive and the bar was 1st class ran extremely efficiently by Marios.You could have breakfast at the Gardens but had to go a short way to Nelia Beach for your main meals,which again were very nice,lots to choose from and very pleasant staff.The all inclusive drinks were on there too and a variety of entertainment.You have free use of the gym and indoor pool which was very refreshing in the hot weather,you weren’t allowed in the main pool but had to use the Nelia Gardens pool which was a lot better,in my opinion,as it was quieter and real beds for sun beds thank you for a lovely holiday and would definitely return and I must mention the location is well situated close to everything but very quiet during the night.

This small little hotel is perfect if you want to escape from the biggest tourist machines. The reception and cleaning - staff are among the nicest we ever met, and they will do everything to make your stay the best. Nelia garden has a small pool which is clean, quiet and free for too many drinks and loud guest - fine for kids and families. Nelia provides pool towels and they have sunbeds for all, you do not need to fight your way through the mass to get one. The hotel garden is like a small village, with bungalow-styled blocks with nice flowers and small pats around. Location is perfect. 5 minutes' walk to the beach and just a few more minutes down to the harbor. Rooms are cleaned every day and the floors are shiny and spotless. Nevertheless, the bathrooms are small and could easily need a quick-fix, but this is really not the most important. They serve a fine breakfast buffet in their restaurant I stayed one week with 3 teenagers, and we all had a very nice time at Nelia Garden. (If I could separate the hotel and the restaurant, I would give only one star to the two young girls working in the restaurant. They pretend not to see the customers, and I really felt I was a burden to them. They used some time fixing their hair in the restaurant-mirrors instead of being by the counter, they never smiled and it seems like they hated bout their job and the guests. The waiting time to get a coke could be up to 8 minutes, even though I was the only guest by the counter) Sincerely, Anne - 3000
