Hotel Bordeaux Clemenceau by HappyCulture

My experience was not great. I had booked this hotel because of the location and they advertised AC in the room. My wife and I arrived at 3 PM on Saturday. Checked in and was given the room key. When we got to the room, it seemed a bit hot and we turned on the AC. We left around 30 minutes later to enjoy our time in this beautiful city. We got back to the hotel about 11 PM to shower and relax. The room was still hot, keep in mind, there is a heat wave happening the week of June 25. I went to ask the night clerk why the room is so hot and I'm told the AC is broken, that's why there is a fan. I was under the impression, the AC was broken for the entire hotel. No apology or explanation why we were not told of the AC problem or given the opportunity to find a different hotel. I emailed Trip.com whom I booked with and was told they would look into it. After a sleepless night, we went down to see the morning clerk and was told it was only our room that had a broken AC, and now they have another room for us. I again contacted Trip.com who said they understood my concerns and would take care of it. I was eventually offered 20 euro in trip coins and a free breakfast to include Coffee and toast. How's that for a slap in the face. I am now in the process of contacting my CC company for at least a partial refund. Lastly, the rooms are old with towel bars loose from the wall and just not a well maintained hotel. There were some bright spots, and some of the staff were nice. But overall I would rate our experience a D+.

Address of the hotel is very nice. It is located in the city centre of Bordeaux. But the hotel is a little bit noisy at night because there are restaurants under the hotel.

Simple 2 night stay for 1 person. Excellent location. Clean comfortable room. Friends stayed in double room that was very compact. Room was hot and AC only allows to turn down to 23°C and street quite loud so hard to keep window open. Breakfast was okay (Not vegan friendly). Coffee/latte machine. Yogurt, cheese, simple cereal and plain bread and delicious croissants. Fruit cup seemed very old. Next time I would forgo the 12euro breakfast and sit out in any of the beautiful street cafes or by the river with a coffee and croissant (or 2) and pick up some fresh fruit at the market or supermarket.

Everything that needed to be operational worked and staff were courteous. The property and rooms are very small with furniture and fittings displaying the effects of substantial wear and tear.

Great location and comfy bed. Will be brilliant when renovation work is complete. Staff were really helpful.

All the staff, from the reception to the restaurant for breakfast, were exceptionally kind and friendly. The parking is infront of the hotel has a discount for the hotel guests. Very good location, walking distance from historical downtown.

I had trouble breathing the stagnant air in this hotel. It is an old hotel, on the low end of amenities. Small elevator. Small rooms. At least there was a window that I could open for fresh air. I paid for breakfast in advance but I got claustrophobic in the restaurant and left to get breakfast in a coffee shop next door. I was grateful for a bed, toilet, shower and sink. The staff was kind. I honestly don’t know how they can breathe at work, but they are kind and good people.
