Hotel le Dormeur du Val

Checked in at 2:30, do not disturb sign on door. Staff said they would SMS the dinner menu and to bring the breakfast order down by 9 pm. 3 hours after lying down, they called my do not disturb room and woke me up. I was upset and went to the front desk to complain. Staff repeatedly claimed I had “numerous” disrespectful communication with staff and guests. I interacted with staff one time and never spoke to guests. Guests were outside my room at 8 am talking loudly, waking me 2 hours after I finally fell asleep. When I showered, I noticed dirty handprints on the shower tile. I stepped out of the shower onto a towel and used my clean the water off the floor. The towels were filthy after wiping up the water because the floors were not clean. There were dirty fingerprints on the TV, potato chips under the edge of the bed. I contacted management who said I used shoes on the towels. The photos clearly show bare feet, which were my freshly washed feet stepping onto the towel to mop up water. When the hotel received my complaint, they repeatedly claimed I had “numerous” interactions with staff and guests and accused me of defamation when I said the room was not COVID clean as advertised. I sent the photographs to *******. ******* sent 3 SMS to the exact same number the hotel claimed was invalid (as their excuse for calling a do not disturb room)

We stopped in Charleville-Mezieres on our way from Burgundy to Paris and spent the night at this little boutique hotel. Unique and fresh decor. It was such a pleasant surprise and quite affordable. The owner, along with the the director of the hotel, greeted us and made our stay very comfortable. Their partnership with a local caterer made for an excellent dinner and breakfast. Good location to walk to places of interest. We would definitely stay there again.

This hotel has so much potential. Attention has obviously been paid to the decor. But it disappoints on facilities and staff attitude. There is no fridge in the room and the hotel bar seems to be closed from 8pm. Don't dare make any noise, like talking or laughing when the female manager is present or you will be scolded like a child and told to respect the other guests, while she herself has absolutely no respect for the guests in the first place. If you ar looking for a hotel with a warm welcome and a smile, please avoid. The sad thing is that the male who checked us in was incredibly helpful and made us feel welcome, but that changed abruptly.

A great stay here, some unusual features which were cool

If you read the other review you already know that ＞ Rooms are really nicely decorated BUT bathroom is having no privacy which is not ideal on a first date... or just if you like your own space.... Our room was rather small but really stylish not much space to store clothe or anything really... When we arrive we have been advise that housekeeper didn't turn up so most room weren"t available great for us at least it was really quite around us ! The SPA was close so no feedback here Breakfast was served in the room and was acceptable I saw a lot of comment about 13€ fees well most hotel in UK charge rather more and keep in mind it is France so yes it is not an English breakfast, my partner being English and told that NO eggs would be served as they run out was not ideal but no big drama The hotel is about 8 minutes walk from Place ducale and all bars and restaurants ! Overall the experience was good, I don't think I would stay for more than couple of days due to lack of armities in the room to feel a bit more like home but certainly recommand for short stay
