Very large clean rooms, a little echoey because of the wooden flooring througout the hotel. Bathroom a little dated but perfectly functional and very large comfortable bed with view over the town. Waitress served a la carte breakfast in the beautiful garden was outstanding. A very quiet area just outside the centre, 20 mins walk down to attractions like the market, cable car and Blandys - and only a 5 min (€1.5) bus ride (#31 or #34) back up the hill to the bus stop right outside. Underground on-site car park was small but easy. I'd definately stay here again.

We had a large room with a balcony and we could see the ocean and port, and also mountains.

Rooms were large and comfortable. Views were marvellous. Staff were fantastic. Breakfast is table service , would probably prefer buffet. Be prepared for hills , however there is a bus stop directly outside the property.

Really enjoyed this hotel! The property was gorgeous and offered breakfast for a low price that was definitely worthwhile, especially on one of the terraces in the morning. Hotel room was spacious and had a great view. Located close to old town Funchal, about 10/15 minute walk downhill. Will note that walking back to hotel requires going uphill, which gets old fast. We rented a car the second day and the hotel was able to offer garage space (very grateful). The in room minibar was always stocked for a price, which at times was convenient. Overall enjoyed our time here!

Our stay here totally exceeded expectations! The grounds are gorgeous and the room was enormous compared to the other hotels we stayed at in Lisbon and Porto. The staff were incredibly sweet and accommodating. The kitchenette in the room was such a welcome surprise. We were able to cook a nice dinner one evening that we enjoyed on the patio overlooking downtown Funchal. Definitely hit the breakfast for 12 euros at least once. It was charming and delicious.

What a great place so friendly and clean and two of the cutest Labradors ive met. The staff go out the way to set an atmosphere of relaxation and ensure all needs are met, they help book trips and point great places to visit and eat at. A big thanks to Nico for his advice. its on a hill like all of funchal but not too bad and if you don't feel like (after a few glasses of wine in the nearby old town - five mins walk) then a cab is about 5 euros (top tip get them to turn on the meters I had one who didn't and charged me double). The breakfast is well worth it you get a wide selection of everything you could want and freshly made pancakes are a must and eating outside on the terrace overlooking the harbour is a great start to the day. And the gardens in the hotel are exquisite the gardener loves it he works so hard and you notice it. A definite recommendation i'd certainly return without a second thought.

A fantastic hotel the staff were friendly from the beginning to the end (big thanks to Nico for all the tips on trips and restaurants) the place was close to the old town and a cab back was about 5euro so very easy to get back.
Hotel was so clean the breakfasts were great (they do fresh juice and you get a cake treat) the room was spacious and bed so comfy

This is a stunning property with a very homey feel. Every detail and service made it a very comfortable stay. All the staff are so kind and friendly, always greeting with a smiling face. Front desk Nono was incredibly knowledgeable and went out of his way to provide extra information and even keep me informed on weather details for my planned hikes! Highly recommend a stay here, I will surely be back !
