We stayed as 3 couples with 2 children in the room. We booked three rooms and we had a great stay at the hotel. The hotel onsen was really good, separated into mens & women - it's swapped over each day so you can experience both. There are also several private onsen that you can book as couples. The breakfast teppanyaki was stunning, several courses and quite a lot of food. The location in the town was really good and you can easily walk around the local area. I recommend driving to the pedestrian suspension bridge over a dam nearby (about 10 mins drive) as it is quite breathtaking to walk across this.

Kissho Yamanaka is located in Yamanaka onsen town, a 20 minute drive from the Kaga train station. This ryokan (resort) offers a convenient free shuttle to and from the station, but be sure to book a pickup and drop-off time. The amenities this ryokan offers are almost endless and the relaxing environment makes you want to stay here forever. The is afternoon pancake, large hot spring bath, 3 private hot springs which can be reserved for 50 minutes, happy hour, nightly Kaga pudding dessert, and classic Japanese entertainment keeps your mind away from any stresses you might have. The resort is located near beautiful stream and lush forest. A Kaiseki (classic course) dinner is offered as part of the package. Kissho Yamanaka is a perfect place to stop by for a night or two if you're en route from the rich traditional cities of Kyoto to Kanazawa.

We booked 2 rooms for 4 adults and a 2 year old boy. Great location, great view, great onsen, and great food. Traditional Japanese dinner with unlimited sake/beer/drinks was included in the room price. Highly recommended!

There was an earthquake early in the New Year, but the affected area was limited to the Noto region, and I was able to go to Yamanaka Onsen in southern Ishikawa Prefecture without any problems. It was my first time staying at this inn for 2 nights and I was very satisfied. The food at Kaga Ryotei Chihiro was good, but they had teppanyaki, which is rare for Japanese inns, and I preferred that one. I was so excited to eat crab, foie gras, and my favorite ingredients grilled on an iron plate. Since I stayed there for several nights, I was able to enjoy pancakes for afternoon tea, and the service was perfect. We also enjoyed the Yamanakabushi performance after dinner. It was a very welcoming inn.
