Cancelled our booking. Requested refund from the travel agent. All available rooms: no working AC. Sparkling clean shared kitchen. Open terrace with SUPERB views of Kandy city, Dalada Maligawa, and the lake. We chose to vacate rather than risk that the anemic air conditioner was sufficient for April weather. (Previous guest did not object, however) Remote location. Tuktuk drivers asked 3X normal rate (tho negligible by Western standards). We endured traffic jams on the mountain road. Room boy was out when we arrived, road weary and sweaty. This aged guest was obliged to carry heavy bags up foreboding stairs. Proprietress is grandmotherly lady. She was alone when we faced stairs to Mt. Everest. She helped with bags, despite her assumed frailty. She gave us a working pedestal fan when we complained about poor room cooling. The rooms were clean, modern, well equipped. We didn't sleep so can't opine about mattress comfort. Wall outlets were a challenge for mobile phone charging (maybe only our reserved room). This hotel/homestay has GREAT online reviews. We might have enjoyed our stay, save for electrical challenges and traffic jams.
