Botlierskop Private Game Reserve

Amazing private reserve. The attention to detail is everywhere. Pity they don’t do the game barbecue in the evenings though…

If you are in the area, i must recommend. the owner and staff are so kind and nice, unlike some other places. They actually care for the quality of food, service and your satisfaction here. Beautiful place, beautiful people. Wish you had a bit more food options for specific dietary needs but amazing service for what it is.

This game reserve was more than exceptional, to say the least! The staff were incredible, the food quality was top notch and the activities are extremely unique and so much fun! We arrived earlier than the check in time and the staff were more than happy to accommodate us (also depending on availability). While waiting for our room, they suggested that we do a horse back safari instead of just sitting and waiting. We were excited and took the offer. Our horse back safari guide was Admire who is exceptionally great at what he does and because of him, we have done horseback safari almost everyday! We have started with the non experienced ride then made our way up to the experienced where we were cantering and galloping with our different horses!! Back to the main story, our game drive guide Mandela has made our game drives sooooo much fun and is another reason why we would always want to come back to Botlierskop just for them 2!! (This is our honeymoon and they made the experience more than perfect!!) I would truly recommend Mandela and Admire when coming to this private game reserve!

This is a very beautiful hotel and has amazing safari grounds. Rooms are beautiful, clean and inviting. Overall very expensive for what you get and has a lot of hidden fees on arrival. It is a shame that things such as breakfast or activities are not included or discounted with the significant cost of a room per night. We paid approximately AU$1500 per night and only received the hotel room. Even arrival drinks come at a cost. The experiences such as the safari tour and horse riding were excellent, and the staff members were fantastic. However, staff at the guest services and throughout the hotel facilities were not inviting and often ignored guests. Would think with the price paid and 5-star experience customer service would be better. When seated for dinner and breakfast you have a designated seated table for your room. If asked to sit in an alternative place staff members respond by stating "the viewing tables and window seating is for those guests who have paid more money and stay for longer". Understandable, however, due to the large period of time provided for breakfast and dinner perhaps guests could sit where seats are available. I would recommend doing the safari tour/alternative activities as a day trip only and not staying at the hotel. You can visit this hotel and have the same experiences - with much less of a cost.
