This time I had only 2 demands for the hotel – it had to have a SPA and a low price family room. Not a suite or junior suite or senior or admiral or a separated twin room or something else expensive. Just a room were to throw the luggage and sleep for time to time. Strand had it. I wouldn’t say, that the family room is bigger than a usual superior room in similar hotels. It has a bed and sofa bed for the kids and you can add a crib too. So in the end there’s no space for family yoga, but I never was a fan of sitting in narrow hotel rooms. Especially with annoying children. But the small room had everything for our needs. There was even a small refrigerator with a positive surprise – it was empty. So I didn’t had to worry, that the kids emptying the mini bar and causing irreversible damage to my wallet and I could fill the refrigerator with my own beer. So big + SPA area is small, but surprisingly never over crowded. There are two pools. One where old ladys swam and a second one, that was occupied by kids mostly. Even if the sign said massage pool or smt, but it was more a kids pool. Maybe because the actual kids pool kinda ****** and was like smaller than my grave one day will be. One hot tub, not very big, but usable. There are only 4 saunas. One is the half warm sanarium for kids. Second was the finnish sauna, that was supposed to be 90 degrees, but it didn’t tickled me much and it was forbidden to throw water on the stones. I don’t know why they try to take the fun away from the finnish sauna?! Third sauna in the locker room (and I think it was the one were throwing water was allowed) was closed and they heat it up only on Fridays and Saturdays. Dunno why. Maybe the owner is coming then to visit… But luckily there was a steam sauna, which was worth its name. The steam engine there, I tell you that, was not spared for a second. The steam was so thick you could cut it with a knife. So the steam sauna saved the SPA’s honor. The kids loved the SPA area, but who is more into rides and slides etc, then in Strand you don’t gonna get it. What’s also worth mentioning is the big kids playground downstairs. With so many attractions it’s like a mini theme park. Recommend that one definately. Food is normal hotel food. Well made, nothing to praise, nothing to talk down. Hotel is clean and staff friendly. Location is more away from the centre, but it’s a small town and everything is reachable in 10 minutes or less with car. Beach was visible from the window, but never went there. In general was worth the money, so thumbs up.
