Just returned from a week staying at the Hotel Metropole Sorrento with Jet2 Holidays. I can't recommend this hotel enough. The staff from all departments (reception, restaurant, reception, cleaning, bar etc) were all attentive and very friendly. They made you feel extremely welcome. The restaurant team took care of our special dietary requirements (vegetarian) and provided a number of choices at each evening meal. It was well worth taking the half board option. The food was delicious. The hotel was spotlessly clean. The reception staff offered advise on things to do in the area and always greeted you when you walked by. The outside space including the terraces and swimming pool gave great views of the bay and Vesuvius. The bar service in this area was great too! We had a great room (212) with fabulous views of the bay and Vesuvius from our balcony. Before we arrived we were a little concerned over the comments about the busy road and the walk into Sorrento. Yes, it is a busy road with no pavement for a short part of the walk however, this wasn't a problem as vehicles gave enough room for you to walk. You just need to watch and take time crossing the road outside of the hotel during the morning and evening rush hour! We didn't have an issue with road noise. The double glazing was great and we didn't hear a thing. We will back back. Thanks to all the staff at the hotel. You are a fantastic team.

Me and my boyfriend booked through Jet2 & stayed here for a week in June 2023 (my review is very long overdue). We originally booked a superior room with a sea view, however upon arrival the hotel had very kindly upgraded us to a Junior Suite (room 307). The room was located on the top floor on the end right of the hotel. The room was beautiful, and had recently been renovated. We had a front and back balcony, the room itself was very spacious with lots of wardrobe space - a closet on either side of the room. There is a flat screen TV, we linked our phones to the TV to watch Netflix. There is a safety deposit box (free) and also a mini fridge- we just put our own drinks in here, but you can pay for the drinks stocked in the fridge too. There is a kettle and tea and coffee facilities in the room also. The hotel and room were spotless- the room was made up every day. The bathroom was also lovely with a walk in shower. They have hair dryers on the wall- I didn’t bring my own. Breakfast had good variety- pancakes, toast, pastries, cakes, fresh fruits, cereal, juices & also scrambled eggs & sausages. The staff at breakfast are lovely and made us cappuccino’s every morning. We didn’t eat lunch or dinner at the hotel so can’t comment on this. There is a family run restaurant next door to the hotel which I think is very reasonably priced compared to some of the restaurants in the very centre of Sorrento and is equally as nice. We had dinner here twice because really enjoyed it- the desserts are delicious, especially the tiramisu! We didn’t book here we just turned up, but we did book some restaurants in the Centre of Sorrento on an evening, I did this before we flew and our favourites were: Ristorante S’Antonio Pizzeria, L’Abate, Enjoy the Little Things Bistro. The pool area is also lovely, plenty of sun beds & you can order drinks and settle the bill when you check out. The walk from the hotel to Sorrento Centre is about 15/20 minutes. There is no path for about 5 minutes on the walk from the hotel to the centre, which appears intimidating but isn’t as scary as it looks- I managed fine and I was very nervous about this. The cars and bikes leave you plenty of room and after a few minutes the rest of the walk is on a path, so this didn’t put us off the location of the hotel at all. You can easily get the bus to and from the centre if preferred, I believe you buy tickets from reception and the bus times are stated on the hotel website / can ask reception but we didn’t use the bus service as we thought the walk was OK. It might be a bit of a struggle getting up the hill to the hotel if you have mobility issues. I cannot fault this hotel at all, we had a really lovely holiday and we have actually booked to stay here again next year for a week and are so excited to go back. This time we have booked half board. We did also take the ferry to Positano & Capri and do day trips here. We bought our ferry tickets a few days in advance down near the por

Great value hotel. Comfortable and casual vibe. Our room had a balcony overlooking main road with sea in distance. Noise from the road was loud but with doors closed, the room was quiet and cool. Lovely outdoor swimming pool, unheated but perfect temperature on a hot day. Food was fine, nothing fancy but perfectly adequate. Drinks from the bar were reasonably priced. Good buffet breakfast and very friendly and helpful staff working in the restaurant. The walk into town takes about 20 minutes. The first 300 yards are tricky as there's no pavement. But, it's not bad once you've got used to it. And at night the road is floodlit. There's lots of other people walking on this stretch of road which helps.

My husband and I here from 6th to 13th October. The best I can say is its functional. The food is acceptable but we went out for our evening meal several times. The waiters however were very attentive and I really can't say anything bad about them The rooms were nicely decorated however the garden view which we had to the back of the hotel left a lot to be desired..... More of a jungle and heaven help you if your over the restaurant as all the view you have there was air conditioning units they had not even tried to disguise. My husband was eaten to bits by the mosquitos that must have thrived in the fountain water as it was never switched on.. Would be better emptied and filled with compost and flowers planted.. At least you would see a bee coming. Nothing spoils our holidays but it's not a place to return too

First the good, all the staff are excellent and helpful very pleasant.the room we had was superior sea view and just been refurbished, food was of good quality and drinks reasonably priced. Not so good was the swimming pool scruffy ,the road noise and walk to town was horrendous no matter what other reviews said before we went .even the bus stop you have to stand in the road pinned against a wall no pavement or pay 25 euros each way for 10 minutes taxi. We enjoyed our holiday overall but the hotel is not in a good position for walking access.

My First time Travelling Solo stayed At Hotel Metropole Sorrento Realy Nice Hotel Downstairs Reception Area But Room was Quite Dated very Basic and seemed quite Old Adequate for What I Needed but Definattly needs updating. All Staff Very Friendly and Helpfull Especially Catello And All waiting Staff and All Housekeeping Staff Room Cleaned everyday and Fresh Towels. Getting into Town was 20 to 25 minute walk but first Part is on busy Road without any Footpath bit Scary when you first do it but after about 10 minutes on left hand side you come to Proper Footpath or you get Bus just Little way down on Right every 20 minutes. Sorrento is just Beautiful place to Visit Visited Pompei And Boat Trip to Almafi And Positania both very Good . Also can recommend Restaurant Next Door Verde Mar Lovley Food Good Prices Definatly will go Back to Sorrento but stay in Hotel Nearer To Town.

HM is a clean, basic & very friendly gaff. Perfect location as long as you don't mind the 10-15 min walk down the hill into town. We had read about the 'treacherous' road that you take into Sorrento but as with many things written on this site those comments are a huge overreaction. The pool area is very clean but serves its purpose well. The bar-staff are very attentive and are always on hand to help. The continental breakfast is very good with the welcome addition of scrambled eggs & bacon on offer every day. If you are looking for somewhere to use as a base to enjoy the sites & sounds of Sorrento but that can also be enjoyed for a few 'pool days' then look no further.

Just come back after spending a week at the beginning of September. We stayed in a superior garden room which was traditionally decorated and spotless clean. It was well air conditioned which was greatly appreciated. Both breakfast and evening meal was excellent with good choice for both. The pool and terrace area was well equipped and never over crowded. And all the staff were all amazing, friendly and helpful and made our stay more enjoyable. Please do not worry about the walk into Sorrento as mentioned by others as we found the drivers gave you plenty of room and most of the walk is paved. Booked again for next year can’t wait .
