Stayed 3 nights. Hotel is well located overlooking Piazza XX Settembre. Our room on first floor could have been noisy, due to morning market in the square, but the double glazing was reasonably effective and anyway we are used to street noise at home. The room was not large, but comfortable. The aircon worked. There is a decent breakfast, and a restaurant, which looked ok but we didn’t use. The staff are efficient. The public spaces are large. The clientele seemed to be mainly business oriented,. There was a large party of travel agents when we were there. There is a hotl garage a few yards away.

I really enjoyed my recent two night stay at the Astoria Hotel. The hotel’s conveniently located on the Pizza XX Septembre and has a parking garage. It’s a classic hotel. The rooms could use a refresh but it has charm. Breakfast is excellent and restaurants abound in the pedestrian old town.

Delightful staff. We asked for a High, Quiet Room with a Walk In Shower and that is, exactly what we got - Room 304 Wide selection of items at Breakfast. Super staff, after ordering an Espresso on the first morning, one was brought to me without asking each day Whilst I support the Greeks for trying to get their Elgin Marbles repatriated. I doubt the country of origin is asking for the offensive statues of black people by the fireplace in the Breakfast Room. In 2023 positively offensive. They should go. Hotel very well built but now looking tired. A major makeover needed. Drain for our Shower needs bleaching, very slow to drain away. Thanks all for a lovely stay. 5 nights with Riviera and their lovely Courier, Agnes. Hayling Seagoon

We arrived at the hotel and were told we were upgraded to a suite. We had a living room, a bedroom and a bathroom, but the bathroom was not adjacent to the bedroom ad you had to walk through the living room to get to it. The sofas were comfortable though all the furniture was dark We slept well although there was a humming noise. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room with nice china cups. Breakfast was good , particularly the coffee. There was plenty of fresh fruit including strawberries. The scrambled egg was properly cooked unlike some hotels and there were nice pancakes.

After some years away from Udine we went to Astoria Hotel Italia. It proved to be an excellent choice. The property is located in the centre of the city, yet it is easy to reach also by car (there is a reserved drop off zone). The private parking is underneath, but other covered public parking places are just 2 min by foot away. I heard the staff at the welcome desk talking to guests in at least 4 different languages, which made us feel like at home. The style is classic, with remarkably wide spaces, both for the rooms and the common areas, solid walls, elegant furniture. Wide TV set, wide bathroom. I would rate the quality of our room and our sleep as one of the best ever. Breakfast had both Italian and international tastes accommodated. From bacon and eggs, to a selection of meat cuts (ham and other Italian specialties), and cheese (ricotta and other types). 4 flavors of juices, 3 of bread, and beside this a wide variety of sweet preparations (croissants, cakes, pies and so on). Yogurt -4 choices, jam, honey and a selection of food for people with intolerances completes the offer. Any kind of coffee (from traditional "euro-style" coffee to Italian espresso, cappuccino, and of course "americano". I appreciated that all coffee is served, no need to queue before an automatic coffee machine. No wonder world elite has been there. Astoria Hotel Italia is really an excellent choice for your stay in Udine. Staff: really a very good experience. Remarkably helpful, they even remembered us after many years passed in between, making us feel not just as guests, but as friends ("Mr. Lewis however is a very special customer, and we like to think about special customers as friends" - Hector Elizondo, Pretty Woman, Hotel Manager scene). Junior staff: at the front desk, the agent that welcomed us, she gave some useful hints - perfect - so we would like to thank her but don't know her name, just remember that she spoke our language with a with lovely spanish accent. If you need to stay Udine, give a try at Astoria Hotel Italia. You won't be disappointed.

We stayed for 2 nights on a cycling holiday. We had upgraded to a suite. I’m not at all sure it was worth the additional €200 per night that we paid. The bedroom was fine, if a little small and the ‘living’ room was too small for the amount of furniture it had in it….a sofa, a chair and a round table to seat 4. It felt very cramped. The wifi reception in both rooms was poor….for the money we paid I expect it to work! There was no information at all in the room about hotel facilities and services, or any info in the hotel about local sights and attractions. Given there us little evidence that covid is transmitted by touch there is no real reason for this now. There may have been a restaurant, I have no idea. There didn’t seem to be a bar. Breakfast was good, although the room and the space it was laid out on were a little small. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. It’s in a good location, with all the major sights being within walking distance. We could leave our bikes in the underground garage. The bed was comfortable. However I’m not sure why it is a 4 star hotel. It didn’t feel like one.

Situated on the edge of the pedestriansed area the hotel is a short walk to all the main sites of interest. The public areas are spacious and attrractive although there appeared to be no cafe and/or bar but there is a small outdoor seating area. The restaurant only opens Monday - Friday but as there was never a menu on display, I didn't try it. My single room was of a reasonable size but storage was limited there being only 1 small wardrobe. The bed was quite firm (with only a partial mattress protector) and 2 pillows but OK. General lighting in the room was very good but the bedside light could have been better - more than 10 minutes reading and you begin to get eyestrain! The air con. was quite quiet but wasn't able to bring the temperature of the room down by very much. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided but no milk - you had to ask reception and they brought you up a jug of milk! The bathroom was small with a small bathtub and shower over. People with mobility problems might struggle to get into the bath as the glass shower screen gets in the way. The lighting was very good and the free toiletries are adequate. Cleanliness throught the room (and the whole hotel) was excellent. My room was very quiet with no noise from other rooms and, as the window looked out onto a courtyard, no noise from outside either. The breakfast buffet was back and there was a very good choice of hot and cold items together with very good coffee in large jugs on the tables - unfortunately though, it wasn't very hot! The main drawback to the breakfast was that the waitresses (all very pleasant and friendly) failed to replenish the food and the hot foods ran out very quickly. The receptionists were all pleasant and friendly but you had to keep bothering them for such services as laundry, as there was no information in the rooms. There was no information on visitor attractions in the town, or concerts, theatre, opera, etc. The TV in the room had no TV guide and I was unable to find an English speaking channel! As the Covid lock-downs and restrictions are coming to an end, I'm sure that the hotel will get its services and information back to pre-covid levels soon but don't expect 4 star service at the present!

I’ve just returned from a break in udine staying at the Astoria and it was lovely. The hotel is charming and full of art as is most of udine. It’s in a great location, right on a square and walking distance to lots of interesting squares with coffee shops everywhere. The rooms are comfy, old fashioned, and have everything you need except a mirror in the bedroom Breakfast is buffet style, can be a bit hit and miss but you won’t starve
