We booked this last minute as the Travelodge that we had booked was dire !! Check in was fine, quick and efficient, the room was clean and tidy as you'd expect from a Premier Inn. It was early evening when we arrived and found that the Beefeater restaurant that is attached was shut for food and only the bar open for drinks. Luckily being in the town centre there were other choices. Whetherspoons is a 2 min walk away which solved a cheap and cheerful quick dinner. There is a slight smell of ******** in several spots along the 1st floor which I found strange but then found out the hotel is being used to house people short term. The bed was incredibly comfortable, as were the pillows. The shower is incredible!!! Hot and powerful, just what I needed. Downsides to this Hotel - The Extractor fan in room sounded like I was on the helipad at RNAS Yeovilton, not great when you need the bathroom several times a night and are woken up. The breakfast at the Beefeater was appalling , maybe it was just them being short staffed but taking 40 mins for a cooked breakfast which came out cold and missing ingredients as they'd run out at 9am, even when sent back it only came back luke warm and the bacon tasted weird. Run out of bread, juice and mugs. The young girl Ellie was doing an amazing job though on her own. Not worth £99 a night. When I *****ped the bed in the morning the duvet and plow cases were stained. Looked like they had been washed but not a great thing to have when ut should be replaced. There are other similar or cheaper priced local options that include breakfast. It wasn't the worst place I've stayed but certainly not up to Premier Inn Standards !!
