Delhi Trip Guide

Delhi Trip
Delhi is India’s capital—but it’s more than just one city. There are nine major districts within the current National Capital Region, lying upon the ruins of seven ancient cities that were built by different emperors in the first millennium A.D. Buildings in Old Delhi date back to the 1500s or before that, while New Delhi is the modernized opposite, having been designed by British architects in the early 20th century. This sprawling city is currently the second largest in India, with more than 12 million people living in the city borders. Favorite tourist attractions include the Lotus Temple, the war memorial India Gate, and Rajghat, where Mahatma Ghandi was cremated. Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi is an ancient and colorful (though very crowded) market. Ansal Plaza is the opposite: a vast, gleaming, and modern indoor shopping mall centered around a 45-foot-high atrium.
