Crab season is the high point of the calendar year in this family-friendly, beachside Maryland town. In fact, the crustaceans are so abundant that Ocean City actually encourages people to do their own crab-catching off the piers. Among fisher-folk in the know, Ocean City's nickname is "The White Marlin Capital of the World," and locals claim it has the best deep sea fishing on the eastern seaboard. Other favorite ways to spend an Ocean City day include biking the 3-mile beach boardwalk, golfing one of the 17 area golf courses, or driving out to Assateague to visit the wild ponies. Free family events are offered every night except Saturday in the summertime.
