Gulangyu Island is predominantly mountainous, boasting natural landscapes such as reefs and rocky outcrops. Its coastline is winding and surrounded by the sea. The climate is warm and humid year-round, with mild winters and cool summers. Major attractions on Gulangyu include Sunlight Rock, Shuzhuang Garden, and Haoyue Garden.
I bought a combined ticket for my trip to Gulangyu Island, which was quite reasonable. It included five attractions: the Pipe Organ Art Center, the Bagua Building, Shuzhuang Garden, Haoyue Garden, and Sunlight Rock, all of which are worth visiting.

This was the most comfortable hike I've ever had. Entering from the south gate, I took the large elevator to the top, walked 200 meters on flat ground, then took another elevator, walked another 380 meters on flat ground, and finally took the scenic shuttle bus. It was perfect – easy on the eyes, beautiful scenery, and suitable for all ages.
We visited with family, entering twice through two different gates (one of which was a complimentary ticket from the hotel). The gate near the Xiamen Hotel was closer to the cactus and rainforest area. I visited it many years ago and had a great time then, but now, perhaps because there are so many botanical gardens in China, it just felt average.

As expected, the 4-5 pm time slot is the most popular, but the view is definitely worth it. After exchanging your tickets on the second floor, you can start queuing. It's best to arrive about 20 minutes early for your desired time slot, as it takes about 10 minutes to get from the tree-lined side to the Petronas Towers side.
This time I brought my elderly parent (68 years old) and child (just 120cm tall), plus myself. The tickets were 200 yuan. There were no discounts for seniors, and we weren't allowed to get off the cable car midway. The staff's attitude was so-so. The only thing worth mentioning is the scenery; you see mountains first, then the sea. It's best to come on a sunny day. This ticket cost 160 yuan, which I think is a bit expensive. It's the most expensive ticket I've bought in Xiamen. They said it would take 40 minutes round trip, but I didn't think it was 40 minutes. If you're afraid of heights, you can get off on the other side. The staff there are quite nice. Getting off from there involves a walk through some undeveloped hills. My elderly parent is a bit afraid of heights, so we got off that way and found our own path to get out, then went to Baicheng Beach.

Cycling or driving around the island is highly recommended, especially the northern route (Longwangtou - Changjiang'ao - Northern Ecological Corridor) and the southern route (Longwangtou - 68 Nautical Mile Scenic Area - Tannan Bay). • The island has strong ultraviolet radiation, so be sure to take precautions against sunburn (sunscreen, hat, sunglasses). • Some experiences are affected by weather and tides (such as watching "blue tears" and hiking), so it is recommended to check the latest information before traveling. In short, Pingtan Island offers magnificent natural scenery, a rich historical heritage, and a wealth of modern activities.
Regional Core Attractions and Main Highlights Northern Route: Northern Ecological Corridor - Mountain and Sea Highway, offshore windmill fields, glass walkway, ideal for cycling and photography. Changjiang'ao Beach: One of Pingtan's three major beaches, featuring classic scenes of sand, windmills, and sunset. Donghai Wonderland (Xianrenjing): A natural sea-eroded vertical shaft, offering a spectacular view of roaring waves. Beigang Village: A typical Pingtan "stone house" fishing village with a strong artistic atmosphere. Southern Route: Tannan Bay - A long "platinum coastline" with fine sand, an excellent spot to view "blue tears" (bioluminescent plankton). Jiangjun Mountain: Climb high for panoramic sea views and overlook Tannan Bay, featuring unique sea-eroded landforms. 68 Nautical Mile Scenic Area (Houyan Island): The closest point on the mainland to Taiwan (only 68 nautical miles), with a prominent landmark for taking photos. Haitan Ancient City: An ancient-style architectural complex integrating cultural displays, dining, shopping, and entertainment experiences.

It's a fully commercialized ancient town nestled in the mountains and waters. There are many ancient banyan trees, and the earthen buildings are just so-so. If you haven't seen them before, it's worth a visit; they're wooden structures. If you want to go upstairs, the local residents will charge you 5 yuan per person.
The scenery is beautiful, and you can also see local stage plays. It's a great place for taking photos. The only downside is that the Tulou is too commercialized. There are stalls and booths everywhere inside, and you have to pay extra to go upstairs to visit.

Hulishan Fortress retains its majestic century-old appearance, with its Krupp cannons still awe-inspiring. The weathered stone walls stand tall and unwavering, overlooking the Xiamen-Kinmen Strait. The fortress museum, 4D cinema, and Qing Dynasty military drills intertwine to create an immersive historical panorama, while VR interaction adds a novel touch. Tickets are affordable, and combined tickets are convenient. However, the exhibits are somewhat limited and maintenance is slightly lacking. It's especially beautiful for taking photos at dawn and dusk, and the nighttime light and shadow effects are romantic. Combining education, sightseeing, and family fun, it's a must-visit, lesser-known classic in Xiamen.
This casual visit to the scenic spot was surprisingly patriotic. We happened to catch a performance, which instantly made the ticket price worthwhile. Reading the introduction, I learned that the events occurred only about eighty years ago, and I couldn't help but reflect that only a strong nation can provide a happy life. I definitely want to bring my child, who aspires to be a soldier, to visit this place sometime.

The scenery was truly beautiful, but climbing the mountain was exhausting. At an altitude of 600 meters, the actual distance I covered using my iWatch was 4 kilometers! 🤣 The closer you get to the summit, the steeper the path becomes, and there aren't many rest areas, so you need to keep going. If you're not very athletic, I recommend taking the shuttle bus at the entrance directly to the summit. It runs every half hour, and you can enjoy the scenery along the way. The ticket price is also reasonable at 15 yuan per person.
The scenic area is like a large public park, perfect for local residents to hike and exercise. The scenery is rather ordinary; the only notable features are the Laozi Rock statue at the foot of the mountain and the stupa containing the relics of Master Hongyi. Free admission would be fantastic, but the full-price ticket offers only so-so value.

Stepping onto Nan'ao Island is like stepping into a unfolding painting, with verdant mountains on one side and breathtakingly beautiful azure seas and silvery sands shimmering on the other. In recent years, Nan'ao County has restored the island's natural beauty through the restoration and management of its coastline, and the unique "blue" of Nan'ao has captivated and mesmerized countless people.
We made a last-minute decision to visit Nan'ao Island, and we were surprised how quickly the car arrived at the hotel. The driver provided excellent service and detailed explanations throughout the trip, making it a wonderful day trip to the island. We'll definitely choose them again next time. Thank you for your service! 👍👍👍

Staying in a traditional earthen building with modern facilities, it's comfortable, pleasant, and elegant. The butler provides attentive one-on-one service, always ready to assist. It's a rural tourism experience that meets modern five-star service standards. I would definitely recommend it to friends!
Nanjing Tulou, a World Cultural Heritage site and a gem of traditional Chinese architecture, comprises over 1,300 buildings. Architecturally, Nanjing Tulou are unique in shape, adhering to the "round sky and square earth" concept, and come in various forms including round, square, and mansion-style. They ingeniously utilize the narrow, flat terrain in the mountains, perfectly combining traditional rammed earth construction techniques with the mortise-and-tenon method of building. For example, the Hegui Building, built on marshland, remains sturdy and stable after over 200 years. Defensively, Tulou are veritable fortresses. Their thick outer walls, lack of outward-facing windows on the first floor, and the presence of firing ports and watchtowers, along with sturdy gates equipped with fireproofing devices, effectively repelled external attacks. Culturally, Tulou served as ancestral homes, reflecting a strong sense of family and unity. Inside, ancestral halls and schools were often found, with couplets reflecting values such as diligence in farming and scholarship, loyalty, filial piety, benevolence, and righteousness, highlighting the tradition of valuing education. At the same time, the Tulou also carries the local folk culture, and residents still live in them, continuing the centuries-old atmosphere of life.

My child was so excited about the whale specimen, and was immediately overwhelmed by its sheer size. He cried... a true example of "Lord Ye's love of dragons" (a Chinese idiom meaning someone who professes to love something but is actually afraid of it)... hahaha. The guide was incredibly gentle and patient, and I thoroughly enjoyed the explanations! A million thumbs up!
This science and technology museum uses a "visible and tangible" approach to make dry scientific knowledge lively and engaging. Whether it's the basic science exhibition area for teenagers or the cutting-edge technology exhibition for adults, both areas offer tailored teaching methods. The exhibition areas feature concise and clear explanations, along with animated demonstrations and interactive experiments, making even complex physical laws easily accessible. More than just an exhibition space, it serves as a bridge connecting the public and science, making it a perfect base for popular science education.
