My Hong Kong Vacation: Hong Kong Hotels Recommendation

This hotel is relatively new, and has modern decor. Its interior decoration is relatively good among all Hong Kong hotels. You can see that it is professionally designed. It looks similar to the hotels we see in Hong Kong TV series. When I walk inside, I feel like I am a famous Hong Kong actor, and cannot help but pose for a camera.

Situated on Nathan Road, the hotel has an extremely convenient location. It is surrounded with restaurants, and is less than 2km from Victoria Harbour. You can experience the night view of the harbour just down the road, and there is also the Australia Dairy Company, a web-celebrity shop waiting for you to visit.

I was a poor student when I stayed here, so I couldn't indulge in the famous brands available around the hotel. I chose this hotel because it is near Yau Ma Tei, so it was convenient to find the shooting locations of many Hong Kong TV series - the hotel is within 500m from the Yau Ma Tei police station! There is the three-storied white building which appears frequently in Hong Kong TV series! Many famous Hong Kong Crime TV Series were shot here! Sir, Madam, are you still there!! (I am a crying out of exhilaration)

This hotel is even closer to the Victoria Harbour, which is less than 700m away. The Tsim Sha Tsui station is within one minute walk. Downstairs are the Chee Kee and Tsui Wah restaurants, with the ONE shopping center across the street, and the Harbour City is within a few minutes' walk. This hotel has nearly no disadvantages, except that the rooms are quite small.

As can been seen on the map, the popular and plausible Longcheng Pharmacy (the authentic one) is only a few meters away.

Each time I went shopping in Hong Kong during a sales event, this hotel was always my choice. As it is close to the Harbour City, I can come back quickly and put my purchases in the room, go to the Chee Kee restaurant to enjoy a bowl of wonton, and then go shopping many more times after having a good rest!

My Hong Kong Vacation: Hong Kong Hotels Recommendation

When I first came to Hong Kong in my first year of university, I stayed here. This hotel should be the first choice for students or friends on a tight budget. Its rooms are cheap, clean and convenient, and are equipped with bunk beds. When I traveled with friends, we took one room and went shopping at the Sneakers Street and the Ladies' Market together; sometimes I went here alone, so I slept on the upper bed, and on the lower bed, I stacked my purchased clothes and shoes, or the posters I bought when I went to concerts in the Hong Kong Coliseum. In retrospect, I cannot help but smile for my youth, feeling how nice it is when one is young.

This hotel is not far from the Mong Kok MTR Station, and within 200m from the Sneakers Street . From here, the Ladies' Market is nearby, and Langham Place is on the corner.

Sneakers Street was Hong Kong's "Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street" for me when I was a student, where I loved to go shopping even if I didn't have much money in my pocket. Now, I prefer to stroll in the Goldfish Market and the Flower Market, and then go to order a piece of thick toast and a cup of milk tea in the Chrisly Cafe, Eason Chan's (the famous singer) favorite shop; this is a super comfortable experience when spending my time around Hong Kong.

My Hong Kong Vacation: Hong Kong Hotels Recommendation

I was indulged in star-chasing when I was young, and I even organized half of a class (of course, there were only a dozen students in a class) to watch the gorgeous and grand concerts in Hong Kong. At that time, we booked this family hotel.

The old street, the aging building, the narrow stairs, and the effort spent on carrying our luggage upstairs all made me panic, thinking they would be disappointed with this hotel I had chosen. However, after entering the room, I immediately calmed down. It felt exactly the same as we saw in the early Hong Kong TV series: a small place, the head of the bed against three walls, and complete amenities in the living room and the kitchen, all of which were full of character. This chaotic street life is mostly missing in recent years' TVB series, but the House Of Spirits series starring Bobby Au-Yeung (a famous Hong Kong actor) last year brought the original style of early Hong Kong TV series back to us.

Its surrounding is filled with the feeling of chaotic street life, and living here makes one feel like being a Hong Konger: following the cadence of the Hong Kong elders, have a morning tea casually after getting up, browse through goods in each stall wearing a pair of slippers, dress yourself up in the afternoon and go to the supermarket garishly and glamorously, becoming a modern citizen; and while you're still wearing makeup at night, be a hipster and wander into the brightness and bustle in Mong Kok, or have a drink in some bar, or hunt for fresh and delicious foods among various eateries.

My Hong Kong Vacation: Hong Kong Hotels Recommendation

This family hotel has a ton of pretty bourgeoisie, and its interior decoration is best among all the hotels I have stayed at. It is even better than many three-star and even four-star hotels, though it isn't comparable with luxury five-star hotels.

This hotel is situated in Friendship Court on Hennessy Road. It only takes 5 minutes walk from the Causeway Bay MTR to Friendship Court. Guest can also go up to the roof of the Court to have a birds-eye view of the Causeway Bay scenery. As can be seen on the map, it is located near the center of the Causeway Bay area, surrounded by Central Plaza, Times Square, SOGO, Hysan Place, etc...it is a few minutes from all kinds of big malls in Causeway Bay, less than 10 minutes walk.

It has a convenient location and has exquisite interior decoration, but of course, its price is relatively expensive. Each time I went to Hong Kong with my rich girl friends, I would choose it since it's in good condition and has numerous luxury brands available nearby.

This family hotel is the one I most frequently stay at. Its price, location and interior decoration are pretty good.

It is closer to the malls such as SOGO than the hotel above, and downstairs offers all kinds of fashion shops, eateries and malls. Compared with the spacious "three-bedroom, one living room" layout of the last hotel, its room is smaller, but is enough for one or two guests. Its simple and modern decoration makes you feel comfortable during staying here.

Downstairs is the Chee Kee restaurant, and various eateries are clustered around, especially all kinds of Japanese restaurants. Dozens of fashion brands and big brands, such as Bape, Gentle Monster and Chantecaille, are within 100m of the hotel, across the street is an Apple flagship store in Causeway Bay, and the fashion store JUICE operated by the former star Edison Chen is 700m or so away.

This hotel is full of young energy, has a fantastic backpacker atmosphere, and is the first choice for many foreigners. Though its accommodations aren't in very good condition, it comes equipped with necessary amenities. Its biggest advantage lies in its free and relaxed atmosphere. It is comfortable to sit back with a drink, talk and watch movies after a long day of shopping.

There are various restaurants around, such as Joy Hing Roasted, Chrisly Cafe, and Seven-Eleven. Also, it is very convenient; whether you're heading for the Victoria Harbour via Star Ferry, visiting Hennessy Road at night via Hong Kong Tramways, or climbing to the top of Victoria Peak, you can get there easily.

The map shows that it is not far from Hysan Place and SOGO.

My Hong Kong Vacation: Hong Kong Hotels Recommendation

This family hotel isn't in as convenient of a location as the other hotels on the map, it's not close enough to famous supermarkets, and is quite far away from the downtown area and rich nightlife. But in fact, it offers a great environment - it is located in the central Wan Chai District, an authentic living area for many Hong Kong people.

The MTR Station and Hong Kong Tramways is nearby, which can bring you to the downtown area in a few minutes. Downstairs has some restaurants, bars, supermarkets, and shopping malls. This hotel is decorated in a fresh and artistic style, it's small but has all necessary amenities, and is even equipped with fitness equipment (of course, I only used these to pose for the camera).

Overall, this hotel is quiet even though it's in a noisy neighbourhood. You have safe and convenient access to each downtown area, and do not have to worry about safety even after midnight, because the surrounding streets are very lively, and it has 24-hour security in place. Retreat to this small, private place, and enjoy a Hong Kong style vacation without having to walk everywhere, as all necessary living amenities are nearby.
