Founded in 1925, the Palace Museum is a large comprehensive museum built on the basis of the Forbidden City and its collections of the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is also the largest and most intact ancient palace complex in the world, with a collection of more than 1.86 million pieces of cultural relics.

A very good experience; I saw many treasures from the Palace Museum's collection. I spent over three hours carefully examining them. Exhibition Hall 7 was closed for renovations. Happy Miniature Art Society, which has always taken it as its mission to promote Hong Kong to the world with its ingenious hands, has received support from the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) under the Local Characteristic Tourism Activities Pilot Scheme (the "Pilot Scheme") this year, as well as sponsorship from The Peak Company Limited and a number of public and private organizations, to hold the "A Closer Look at Hong Kong" Miniature Art Exhibition at The Peak on Victoria Peak from April 25 to June 23, 2025. A total of 24 miniature artworks with themes of Hong Kong's landmarks, customs and life characteristics are exhibited this time, with 7 new works, in particular, attracting attention, including the highly anticipated "Kai Tak Main Stadium", "Kowloon Walled City" that combines movies and historical facts, "Temple Street Nightlife " with a sea of lights and delicious food, "Ngong Ping 360" with a magnificent view of Lantau Island, "Horse King Contest" that allows you to experience five generations of horse kings rushing to the finish line across time and space, "A Corner of Goldfish Street" that challenges the limits of craftsmanship, and "Sai Wan Pier" that showcases the epic appearance of Hong Kong's entrepot.
The Peak on Hong Kong Island is the highest point on Hong Kong Island. With its wide view, one can overlook Lantau Island and the panoramic view of Hong Kong, as well as the stacked skyscrapers and the night view of Victoria Harbour. Tai O is a fishing village developed on Lantau Island and is known as the "Venice of Hong Kong". The stilt houses built on water are a feature of Tai O. The stilt houses in Tai O are connected to each other, and some passages pass through neighbors' living rooms or kitchens, creating close neighborhood relations. The front of the shed is where fishermen do their daily work and rest, while the back of the shed is used to dry salted fish, kelp, etc. You can take a sampan to travel through the waterways, admire the stilt houses up close, and experience the fishing village style of Tai O.

| I bought the Tai O Pass package, which has very convenient transportation. I got off at Tung Chung MTR Station and walked to the cable car station in a few minutes. I followed the instructions to go to the lobby to exchange the tickets, which included a cable car ticket, a bus ticket, a yacht ticket, 2 10-dollar snack tickets, and a 50-dollar food voucher for Tai O Heritage Hotel. The standard carriage was enough, and the scenery was very good. After passing several hills, I could see the Hong Kong airport. It took 20 minutes. Before getting on the cable car, the staff took a group photo for each family. When I arrived at the station, the set cost 260 yuan, which was a rip-off. I definitely didn't want to go. I used the food voucher to eat at Honeymoon Kee at Ngong Ping Market, but I could only use 3 vouchers at a time and settle them separately. There was an additional charge for watching the Three Kingdoms and other entertainment activities, which seemed to be 80 yuan per person per project. I definitely didn't go. I bought two lucky cats at the lucky cat shop, and then went to climb the Tian Tan Buddha. It's not very high, with steps. The tour inside is average, and there is no turning back. We went back down the mountain and went to the bus terminal to take bus No. 21. When queuing to get on the bus, the staff checked my ticket and exchanged it for a bus pass for No. 21, which I would use for the return ticket. I asked her what time she would be back at the latest, but the staff didn't speak Mandarin and I couldn't understand her at all. We arrived at Tai O Fishing Village 10 minutes later. The station said that the last bus No. 21 would leave at 17:45. We arrived at around 17:20, but the staff said there was no bus in 45 minutes and the last bus had already left. We had to buy a new ticket and take bus No. 11 back to the cable car station. Both the bus ticket and the return cable car ticket were wasted, which was infuriating. There is nothing much to see in Tai O Fishing Village, except for the dried seafood made by the villagers themselves. You can go to the sea to watch dolphins by yacht, but the wind is strong on the sea, and it is very shaky when you stop to look at the boat, which makes you feel sick. We told the boatman to take the boat to Tai O Heritage Hotel for dinner, but we got off halfway. After 16:00, there was only afternoon tea, fried rice, hamburgers, chicken wings, etc. The 50 yuan coupon had to be paid separately, and the average cost per person was almost 100 after the discount. After eating, we had to walk back to the fishing village to take a bus, which was about 2 kilometers, so it was not cost-effective. |
