Because of its position south of Jiaxing City, Nanhu Lake got its name. Along with Nanjing Xuanwu Lake and Hangzhou West Lake, it is referred to as one of the "Three Famous Lakes in Jiangnan." In addition to offering stunning Jiangnan scenery, this location is a significant revolutionary memorial site in the contemporary history of my nation. On a pleasure boat on Nanhu Lake in 1921, the Communist Party of China was founded. When it's raining, you can view the lake's surface covered in mist if you stroll along its edge. Another option is to go on a boat excursion, where you can get up close and personal with the stunning surroundings while in the lake.

[Scenery] The scenery is great. Take a walk along the trail by the lake, admire the weeping willows on the shore and the calm lake. It is very suitable for a city stroll. The key is that there are not many people, and there is no noisy feeling like other local attractions. It is very good. There are also some scenic spots interspersed in it, such as Lanxiu Garden, Haogu Tower, Wuxiang Temple and so on. |
In Jiaxing's Nanhu District, close to Zhongji Road, sits the Yuehe Historic District. In the past, Jiaxing's industries and trade flourished there. The neighborhood's historic streets and alleyways intersect, and traditional homes are erected by the water. The strong style of the old water town has been maintained and is on show in the form of small rivers, old bridges, narrow lanes, old buildings, corridors, and sheds. The wealth of Jiaxing, the "Jiangnan City" of the past, is reflected in several brands that date back a century.

When visiting Jiaxing, it is very necessary to go to Yuehe Street District, and the best time is after 7pm. At this time, the lights come on and the whole block is very beautiful under the light. It's time to take pictures. The architecture here is very distinctive, and you can savor the life in the Jiangnan water town. The various snacks and handicrafts will make you linger. In addition, there is a Zongzi Culture Experience Hall where you can learn about the history of the development of zongzi. You can also buy a few on the spot to taste the flavor of the zongzi, which is very delicious! But pay attention to losing weight! ! ! |
During the early years of Emperor Yang's reign (605-610), the Grand Canal was excavated. Beginning at Changhong Bridge in Wangjiangjing, Xiuzhou District, Jiaxing, the Jiangnan Canal's Jiaxing segment extends southward to Chongfu Town, Tongxiang. It passes through Tongxiang City's Xiuzhou and Xiucheng districts. Its length is 81.22 kilometers. The historic canal tourism line is currently being fully developed.

Lying on the ancient canal, a thousand years of prosperity flow by like in a dream; relying on the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, it has promoted the creation of Jiaxing City's unique Jiangnan water town historical and cultural heritage and natural and cultural landscape. |
Meihuazhou is situated in Jiaxing City's Nanhu District's Fengqiao Town. Buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties dominate this historic beautiful location. Along the river, the picturesque area is constructed. This place has a touch of Zen because you may frequently see believers doing Zen in the Stone Buddha Temple. Real-life computer science, outdoor barbecuing, and other outdoor expansion projects can be carried out in the picturesque picking garden.

It’s not far from Shanghai by car, perfect for taking kids out in the summer. You need to exchange tickets first, then you can grab dolls and take photos on the first floor after entering. There is a shop at the exit where you can also buy something. The second floor is for tasting, with various flavors. Kids are very happy eating them. The third floor is about the history of ice cream, you can take a walk around and have a look. We went there on Saturday at noon. There weren't many people there. There were plenty of seats where we could sit and slowly enjoy our ice cream and rest. Overall it was a good place. |
Wuzhen is an ancient town in the south of the Yangtze River with a long history in the northern suburbs of Tongxiang. The main scenic area is divided into Xizha and Dongzha. Enjoying the night view of Xizha, riding a rowboat and watching folk performances are experiences that tourists will not miss. This is also the filming location of "A Time to Live and a Time to Die" starring Huang Lei and Rene Liu.
Dongzha and Xizha are about 1.5 kilometers apart. If you want to visit both Dongzha and Xizha in one day, you should arrive in Wuzhen early in the morning and visit Dongzha first (2-3 hours), then start visiting Xizha after lunch and continue to visit Xizha at night to see the night view. If you have two more days, you can consider spending one day in Xizha and one day in Dongzha.

Highlights of Xizha and Dongzha:
In addition to seeing cultural landmarks like Zhaoming Academy and the former post office, you may spend a day exploring Xizha's stone pavement, sampling regional fare like sister-in-law cake, Dingsheng cake, and stinky tofu. Of course, a rowboat is another way to enjoy the water town.
Don't miss the Xizha night tour if you have the time. It is a lovely sight to see the water lanes, historic bridges, and white walls lit up by lights, and touring them by rowing is much more fascinating. After taking in the nighttime scenery, you can enjoy a few drinks at the bar, watch an old film outside, or enjoy the delightful flower drum opera.
Dongzha is smaller than Xizha, yet it has a more vibrant vibe. In addition to the shadow puppet theater, Sanbai Liquor Workshop, Xiuzhen Temple, and the former home of Mao Dun, there are still locals living here. To learn more about richer folk practices and historical connotations, you may also see performances like the high pole boat, which involves climbing bamboo poles on a boat, and the boxing boat, which involves boxing on a boat. Between Dongzha and Xizha, shuttle buses are available.
Food and specialties:
Braised lamb and pickled duck are must-try delicacies when visiting Wuzhen, and the lamb is especially famous. The Hanlin Mansion Hotel and Fengyuan Restaurant in Dongzha, the Yusheng Restaurant and the Braised Duck Restaurant in Xizha are all popular restaurants. You may also want to try the special snacks such as fried stinky tofu, Dingsheng cake, and sister-in-law cakes sold in the streets and alleys.
If you want to bring some local specialties back, the handmade "Three White Liquors", Tao Xuchang brand bean paste, exquisite wood carvings and bamboo carvings, as well as headscarves, coasters, umbrellas, wallets and various pictographic pendants made of "blue printed cloth" are all good choices. There are many specialty shops on the street.
Accommodation in the scenic area:
There are many hotels and inns in the Xizha Scenic Area, all of which are managed by the government. The fees range from low to high. Staying in the scenic area can make it convenient for sightseeing and better experience the night view of Xizha.
There are also many hotels and inns to choose from outside the scenic area, and the prices are relatively cheaper than those inside the scenic area.
Address: No. 18, Shifo South Road, Tongxiang City, Jiaxing City
Opening hours: 09:00-22:00
evaluate:
There aren't many people in the off-season. Dongzha is relatively small and you can finish visiting it in a short time. It’s not very interesting and you can choose to go or not. Xizha is pretty good and you need to stay for a whole day to visit it. Some restaurants in the scenic area have good food, large portions and high cost-performance. |
