Jungle Island, formerly known as Parrot Island, is an eco-adventure park. It is located on Watson Island, a human-made island in Biscayne Bay in Miami, Florida, United States. Jungle Island is one of Miami's most enduring and sought after attractions. It is a zoological park that houses some of the world's rarest and most exotic animals. The park was first established in 1936, and since then it has gone through various changes and transformations. This park was built to reconnect urban people with nature. The main mission of this theme park when it was first established was to give people an idea about what it would be like to visit a jungle and experience a slice of life with exotic species of flora and fauna. It is home to some rare animal wonders like the lovable lemurs from Madagascar. The twin orangutans, Peanut and Pumpkin, are a favorite with both the kids and adults. You can meet the only tamed Cassowaries, large birds that are native to the forests of New Guinea, Indonesia, and northeastern Australia. Jungle Island has 1.35 miles of landscaped and exotic trails, so it's quite an exotic setting that will give you an experience of a lifetime. So, here are some of the fun and adventurous activities you can try, while in Jungle Island:

There are a lot of activities, things to do and see that will make your trip to Jungle Island worth your while. You will be able to personally interact with the animals under the guidance of professional trainers who look after them. The lemurs from Madagascar are extremely rare and endangered. You will have the opportunity to interact with these lovable creatures. Learn interesting and fun facts about the flamboyant flamingoes of America from the keepers who look after these creatures daily. Experience the slow-moving sloths by participating in the hanging with the sloth experience, one of the many unique animals shows that the park has to offer. Experience a visit to the Australian red kangaroos and feed the animals at the petting farm. The Manu Encounter lets you see more than 200 parrots and macaws perched on simulated Peruvian cliffs. The Parrot Bowl is an amazing show and attraction that is extremely popular featuring exotic parrots, cockatoos, and an Andean condor. Jungle Island, being an eco-friendly resort, has something to offer everyone who loves animals. You can even dare to hold a snake or pet an alligator under professional guidance. See the exotic llamas up close and get to know some lesser-known facts about them.

The Jungle Island, Mimi has a host of interesting shows and activities that run through the year, and seasonal activities like the 'Luminosa, A Festival of Lights' that is will open to the public from the 5th of October 2019 up to the 8th of January 2020. Luminosa will feature 13 acres of life-sized lanterns handcrafted beautifully out of colourful silk by skilled Chinese artisans. It will truly be a sight to behold. Jungle Island's animal shows feature three of the wildest exhibitions of animals from around the globe. The first is the Winged Wonders that showcase some of the most playful birds and stunt performers that you will have to see to believe. The Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species (TIGER) puts on the presentation for the Wild Encounter Show where you get to face some amazing feline friends. This is an awesome show that is part of the conservation educational organisation. The third show worth mentioning is the Wild Adventures, where trained staff gives you a few lessons about the jungle's most intriguing and unusual animals that the zoo houses.

The Resort has a range of some truly exotic, rare and endangered animals that are worth mentioning. There are some beautiful Koi fish that are considered to be a symbol of luck and live to be 30-40 years old. You will learn some interesting facts about the Florida Gar, a tropical fish that lives in the lowlands: streams, canals, and lakes. Encounter with mammals like the Canadian Lynx that are found in Alaska across Canada and North America. The zoo also has the smallest of the large cats, the leopard. Perhaps the rarest mammal that the Jungle Island houses is the liger. Have you heard of a liger? They are the largest cat in the world and have the same genes as the lions and the tigers but are considered an offspring of the two. They don't even exist in the wild hence are as rare it can get in the animal kingdom. The Lion's Den covers the park's largest area and perhaps one of the most exciting exhibits. You will be able to see the rare White Bengal Tigers, the Snow White Tigers, the Tabby Tigers, and the White Lion, which is a native of the Timbavati region of South Africa. You will see some exotic birds, including the Caribbean flamingos, Hyacinth macaw, and Eclectus parrots. A lot of the birds at the Rainforest Birds of Parrot'dise come from all over the world. The reptiles and amphibians will certainly open your eyes to the wonders of the animal world. You will get to meet the American Alligators that can grow to be around 16 feet or longer. You will be introduced to the Burmese Pythons, native to Southeast Asia, and the third-largest snake in the world with lengths of up to 25 feet. The Pueblann Milksnake and the White's Tree frog are the other attractions of the Jungle Island eco-resort.

Another major attraction is the ultimate free flight experience where you feel the exhilaration of flight without any parachute. The wind tunnel generates winds over 120 miles per hour so that you can float and fly like a bird up to 15 feet high, all of this with the help of a trained professional instructor. No previous experience is required for this experience, and it is safe. Children as young as four years can have this exhilarating experience too.

The Lakeside Cafe is a cafeteria styled restaurant at the Jungle Island Resort. They offer sandwiches, pizzas and salads. You can famish yourself after a full day of activities at the park. They also offer hot food like chicken parmesan, spaghetti, sweet potato fries, chicken tenders with french fries, hamburgers, hot dogs, ice cream, and Slurpees. It is food heaven for both children and adults alike. Some of the restaurant favourites are pepperoni pizza, chips, and their lemon drink. The Cafe is a nice place to sit down, relax and have a cuppa at the resort. The grounds outside the Lakeside Cafe are often decorated to host weddings. This is a gorgeous location to have an outdoor wedding.

La Playa is the name of Jungle Island private beach. So not only do you get to see rare, exotic animals and interact with them, you can also have the ultimate beach experience. Come and relax with others while lounging in chairs and cooling off by wading into the bay. The entrance of the beach is included with the cost of your entrance fee at the zoo. Experience Neo Splash, a pop-up water park experience with slides over 60 feet high.

The Jungle Island Resorts are known for their efforts in educating visitors about our planet and its rare and exotic flora and fauna. Some of the programs worth mentioning here are the Rainforest Adventure where animals of the rainforest are housed, and visitors will learn about their habitat and environment. There are also reptiles from various places in the world. The Everglades Encounter, which houses animals from the Everglades, will keep you excited. And finally, the Animal Survivors Lessons allow visitors to learn about the defence mechanisms and survival techniques that animals use to survive in the wild. You can see and learn about the bird collection at the 'Parrot-dise, where each bird has an interesting characteristic or trait.

These type of programmes are a great way to learn with friends or teammates about the elements of the ecological animal and plant system. While enjoying a night of fun-filled activities, for instance, there will be a "hike at night" to get the excitement going, a craft's project, interaction with some of the animals, a Jungle Island Scavenger Hunt, and don't worry, you'll be fed too. The crew from the zoo will also provide breakfast and afterwards a day at the zoo.

The park evolved over the years under the direction of its current owners, who purchased the park in 1988. The positive outpour of years of growth in hopes of creating an eco-friendly environment is illustrated in the daily activities of the park. The zoo's horizon couldn't look much brighter with its development system of beautiful plants cohabiting with exotic animals. It is a wonderful example of co-existence. One cannot co-exist without the other. The zoo engages in conservation efforts by protecting various natural ecosystems and exotic and rare animals.
