Originally built in the Tang Dynasty, Fuhu Temple—also known as Huxi Zen Forest—was later rebuilt in the Song and Qing dynasties. Its name, meaning "Subduing Tiger," comes from two legends: one tells of a monk suppressing a tiger that harmed locals; another suggests the temple is named after the nearby mountain shaped like a crouching tiger.
A peaceful stop on the Mount Emei trail, it offers quiet beauty and deep spiritual charm.

Its centerpiece is the awe-inspiring 48-meter-tall, four-faced golden statue of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva—the tallest of its kind in the world and the only one representing all ten directions.
Behind the statue stands Huayan Temple, home to the Golden Hall (Samantabhadra Hall), the tallest temple on the mountain. Inside, you’ll find a striking bronze statue of Samantabhadra riding an elephant—a powerful symbol of wisdom and virtue.
