We just returned from a 4-day itinerary to Okinawa and Ishigaki departing from Keelung, and our experience onboard the Star Navigator was absolutely incredible. As a mid-sized ship, it strikes the perfect balance between offering extensive resort amenities and maintaining an easy-to-navigate layout that never felt overly crowded. The ship itself was stunning, modern, and exceptionally clean. Despite carrying thousands of passengers, the layout felt incredibly spacious, and we rarely experienced long lines. We loved that the three inclusive restaurants covered everything from Western dishes at the Dream Dining Room to family-style Chinese meals at the Pavilion Room and all around buffet at Lido restaurant. Sailing out of Taiwan made the logistics effortlessly stress-free. All onboard transactions are tracked in New Taiwan Dollars (NTD), and the high ratio of fluent English -speaking crew members made communication and service completely flawless.

The service was good, and purchasing packages was convenient with a wide variety of options to choose from and price comparisons. The service on board was excellent, with a diverse food selection available and free meals throughout the trip during the restaurant's designated times.

The Chinese food on board wasn't too different from what you'd find in Chinese restaurants, but the taste was just not right. I ended up eating Western food the whole time, which was fine and plentiful. Perhaps the chefs weren't actually Chinese, so while the dishes looked similar, the taste was quite different. The activities on board were very child-friendly, but lacked variety for the elderly or adults. The magic show was great, and the Trio performance was also excellent. I personally pay close attention to the cabin decor, cleanliness, and condition of the accommodations. I was very dissatisfied with the small interior layout and the outdated facilities.

The typhoon shortened our trip by one day, and Ctrip hasn't refunded the money yet. This cruise ship is quite old, but the cabins are well-designed. Most importantly, the ship's... well, you know... is quite large! 🤣

I was looking forward to the balcony cabins (4-person rooms) on Star Cruises. The sea view from the balcony was good, but the tables and chairs were old and didn't look good in photos. The beds were even worse; the rooms were too small, like two beds plus a makeshift bed. Most things on the ship required extra payment (bar/desserts/other decent meals), and apart from a few restaurants, the food wasn't very good, just enough to fill your stomach. A bit disappointing. The Miyako Island tour was an optional chartered car trip, which was generally very good, but we cleared customs around 11 pm, so there wasn't enough time to explore; we could only briefly check out the sights. The duty-free shop on the ship was pretty good; you could buy whatever you wanted. This time I bought Tiffany perfume and a Polo shirt at great prices!

The prices during the summer vacation were reasonable. The elders only mentioned that Okinawa was very hot, but otherwise they were satisfied.
