Tour a Clipper Race 70-foot ocean racing yacht - Clipper Ventures Training Office Come and take a look around the Clipper 70s; stripped down ocean racing yachts departing this summer for another 40,000nm race around the world. Get access above and below deck. Take the helm and imagine yourself at a 40 degree angle mid-ocean thousands of miles from land. Above deck try your hand on one of the eleven winches capable of lifting the sails up the 29m mast. Go below to check out the nav station, galley, bunks, stowage where each of the 20 Race Crew live when not on deck. Meet one of the Crew Recruitment Team who have all taken part in the race themselves. Ask questions about their time on board or about the recruitment process and anything inbetween. JLDC presents Summer Showcase Saturday 17th MayOur Summer Showcase is a great opportunity for the athletes to show off their routines to their friends and families and hopefully the spectators will see a vast improvement from our Polar Preview event that we hosted in December. Tickets Athletes have already paid for their entry as apart of competition entry 3. Due to building capacity limitations, we have had to split our Showcase into three sessions. Tickets for spectators will come on a first come first serve basis. If you would like to bring a child of any age, they will still need a ticket because they are a body in the building. Humankind has always been fascinated by time and space. Ancient civilisations worshipped the stars and eventually both astronomy and astrology reached a high degree of refinement. At the start of the 20th Century we began reading science-fiction and, inevitabally space and time became a fundamental aspect of cinema and television. Even our chart music talked of space. Gosport Solent Brass are will be bringing music inspired by time and pace to this concert with classic TV themes such as Doctor Who, Quatermass and the Thunderbirds (even puppets can do space!). Film music from Star Wars, Star Trek and from the Marvel Universe will be heard and we may even get Back to the Future. We may even see old blues eyes with Fly Me To the Moon and maybe David Bowie will be providing some background to his Life on Mars. We might want to stay off the dark roads too, otherwise we maybe doing the Time Warp. These and so much more will make for an enjoyable time an space themed concert.
