Through the eyes of a young girl growing into a strong woman, Janssen pays tribute to her grandmother, highlighting her courage and triumphs as she forges her own path in the American Southwest.
Teresa Janssen's own experiences have greatly influenced her writing. Born on the banks of the Columbia River in eastern Washington state and raised on the shores of Puget Sound, she has drawn inspiration from her diverse background. With a background in history and French, as well as an M.A. in Linguistics, Janssen brings a depth of knowledge to her work. Having taught language and social studies for over twenty years, she has worked in refugee camps, higher education, and public high schools. Currently residing in Port Townsend, WA, with her husband and their four children, Janssen now devotes her time to writing, hiking, tending to her orchard, and participating in various educational initiatives.
