The Fox Valley Tough Kid Challenge 2023 is an upcoming obstacle course event and fundraiser organized by the Appleton Area School District's physical education departments. This event aims to promote physical activity among children aged 5 to 13 while raising funds to enhance the district's physical education programs. Participants will face a variety of kid-friendly yet challenging obstacles over a course that is approximately 1.55 miles long. The event will take place on October 7, 2023, at Highlands Elementary School located at 2037 North Elinor Street, Appleton, WI 54914. Unlike previous years, the course will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., allowing participants to complete it at their convenience. Each participant will receive a commemorative event T-shirt. The registration fee is $15 per participant, but after September 30, it will increase to $20. Parents can accompany their child for free by signing a waiver on the day of the event. Please note that the registration fee is non-refundable, even in the case of injury, emergencies, or event cancellation due to circumstances beyond our control. However, participants can transfer their entry to another individual by following the provided procedure. The Wisconsin OPE!n is a double elimination random discipline tournament taking place in Appleton on March 17, 2024. This fun, non-sanctioned event is open to participants of all skill levels. Hosted at Lumberjack Johnny's Appleton, located at 2701 North Oneida Street, this tournament promises a day full of excitement and friendly competition. Participants are strongly encouraged to dress up as leprechauns or lumberjacks to add to the festive atmosphere. Throughout the tournament, when a player gets knocked out, their name will be entered into a draw for a chance to win door prizes and swag. Additionally, there will be cash prizes awarded to the top two participants in each bracket, totaling 40% of the entry fees. This double elimination tournament will have separate brackets for men and women, with each match being the best of three games. The discipline for each game will be drawn at random, adding an element of surprise and challenge. The final two women and the final two men will compete in a duals final, consisting of a best-of-three match.
