Unlike top-down organized commercial music festivals, this monthly beach party has no unified organizing body. The event is a collaborative effort between individuals and businesses on Harlem Beach. The beach is transformed through the collective efforts of local businesses: they set up bars and stages, artists painted signs and created decorations, bars carefully selected and played their own music, and food vendors prepared food for hungry revelers. What you see is not the work of a central planning committee, but the result of the combined efforts of hundreds of participants.
