Made of access ramps, skateboard ramps and inspired by stories from disability and skate communities, this sculptural and multimedia installation focuses on physical barriers found in urban public spaces. The work explores design for intersecting needs and was undertaken by the artists after they’d observed accessibility structures being appropriated by skateboarders. Here are some details about our wonderful performers: ELIZABETH CORBETT (cellist). Elizabeth first played the cello at the age of seven, at the behest of her Director of Music mother, who needed a cellist for the school orchestra. This was the beginning of a long dedication to the instrument, which has led her to work with internationally renowned cellists Leonid Gorokhov and Laura van der Heijden. Elizabeth performs regularly in the local area, with recent highlights including performances of Dvorak’s concerto and sonatas by Rachmaninoff and Brahms. She also works with orchestras and choirs, as performer and conductor. This has led her to play across the UK and Germany in venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and Birmingham Symphony Hall. Elizabeth is currently studying for an MA in Music, and completed her FRSM in cello performance in 2023. When not performing, Elizabeth is a music teacher. She also loves baking, reading and completing jigsaws and number puzzles. Elizabeth will perform the glorious first movement of the Elgar Cello Concerto, Beethoven's variations on a theme of Mozart's magic flute, and the fiery and inspiring Debussy Cello Sonata, accompanied by ESTHER CAVETT. After a short interval, following village demands, we have the return of the Inauria trio with folk music for our delight and relaxation. INAURIA is a trio of friends with a passion for folk song and music from the British Isles. Having all graduated from Trinity Laban in the last couple of years, Ellie, Lewis and Louis come together from their various ventures when they need their folky fix. ELLIE DAFT is a fiddle player/primary school teacher who keeps her passion for fiddle playing going by playing in local folk sessions, in small gigs and to her most enthusiastic audiences, her class of 4 and 5 year olds! Ellie loves to use her music in her classrooms, and especially to communicate and connect with children with special educational needs. LEWIS CHINN plays whistle and guitar with the group, but is typically seen playing the tuba round London in a variety of settings. In January 2023, Lewis won Trinity Laban’s Gold Medal and Audience Prize with an “exuberant” performance on tuba. However, his heart lies with traditional music, which he grew up listening to. LOUIS SUC is a passionate saxophonist who has just graduated from Trinity Laban, but began his musical journey as a vocalist in musical theatre.
