Join the “River Runs” choir in Lancaster to be a part of transforming St. John’s Church into a harmonious space filled with voices. This captivating event, the final commission in the Mill Race Cultural Programme, will pay tribute to the rich musical heritage of the mill race area through the power of song. Led by esteemed choir leader and voice specialist, Loz Kaye, local singers and choirs will participate in a series of workshops that will culminate in an extraordinary “installation of song” at St. John’s Church on Saturday, February 24th.
Open to all, the “River Runs” singers require no prior musical or singing experience. What matters most is an open mind and enthusiasm! Together, we will create a mesmerizing 10-minute piece that will be repeated throughout the “River Runs” event. To ensure familiarity with the piece, there will be three workshop rehearsals held in Lancaster prior to the event. We warmly welcome families and young people to join us, with an age guidance of 11+. Participants under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
The Gregson Arts & Community Centre, located at 33-35 Moor Gate, Lancaster, LA1 3PY, will be our venue for this remarkable workshop. The center offers direct level access from the door on Williamson Road. If you have any questions, please contact alice@lancasterarts.org. If you are interested in being a part of the “River Runs” event, kindly inform us, and we will provide you with further details.
This workshop is also a part of Lancashire: County of Song 2024, a year-long celebration that honors the diversity and depth of grassroots singing in the county. Be a part of this extraordinary journey and join the “River Runs” choir in Lancaster.
