Field Identification Skills Certificate (FISC) - Clitheroe, July 2025 | Clitheroe Community Church
Jul 9, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Clitheroe
The Field Identification Skills Certificate (FISC) is a one-day test that determines your botanical proficiency on a scale from 1 (beginner) to 5 (professional) with 6 being awarded in exceptional cases.
The FISC is a combination of lab based and field-based testing. Firstly, the test consists of
two lab sessions
in the morning where candidates identify 10 widespread species from across Britain and Ireland, followed by 20 species ranging from ‘easy’ and common to ‘challenging’ and rare. This is followed by a
field test
of a local site with considerable botanical interest. Candidates produce a species list which is then compared to the species list of a FISC 5 or above botanist surveying at the same time.
The test will start at 10:00 and finish by around 16:00.
