Orchestra
Welcome to Music of the Spheres! Come join us at St. Augustine's Church in Vancouver on Saturday, March 1st, 2025 at 7:30 PM for a night of celestial melodies and harmonies. Experience the beauty and wonder of the cosmos through the power of music with ensemble Gallo Chamber Players, performing works from the 1600 inspired by the celestial discoveries of the baroque era. Let the ethereal tunes of the spheres captivate your senses and elevate your soul. About the artists: Gallo Chamber Players is an early music ensemble based in Vancouver, British Columbia. The core members are Jiten Beairsto, Rebecca Ruthven and Majka Demcak on baroque violin, Emily Burton on baroque cello, and Connor Page on harpsichord. They specialise in historically informed performances of music from the 16th-18th centuries on period-style instruments, and are the only chamber group of their kind currently active in B.C. The members of GCP met during their studies in the Baroque Orchestra Mentorship Programme, and are all recipients of the Early Music Vancouver Scholarship Award. Violinists Jiten, Majka, and harpsichordist Connor were featured as emerging artists in Early Music Vancouver's Bach Festival in the summer of 2018 and the ensemble was formed soon after, working with cellist Emily to present their debut concert at St. Philip's Anglican Church in January 2019. Violinist Rebecca Ruthven joined as they resumed regular performances in the fall of 2022. Notable recent performances include the opening concert of the St. Augustine Series in Vancouver, and two consecutive appearances at Summer Baroque in the Trees on Salt Spring Island. On a mission to bring the beauty of historically informed Baroque and Classical music to their audiences, the GCP include a variety of pieces and styles in each concert and aim to engage their audience with conversation during and after performances. The ensemble also welcomes guest artists who specialise in Baroque performance to join them for various project-based concerts. Information Source: St. Augustine Series | eventbrite

ODA DYSTOPIA ODA returns, re-entering into the dystopian world with their immersive event: ODA DYSTOPIA. Blurring the boundaries between fashion, film, photography and artistry, this exclusive gathering will unveil the much-anticipated runway film of ODA Apocalypse Now, launch the ODA Dystopia photography book, and debut the official ODA website - where select pieces will be available for purchase and rental. Taking place at West Port Oracle, this two-part event will also mark the exclusive launch of ODA X REVERSO, a sustainable collaboration with EPOCA MODERN VINTAGE, the revered Leith-based second-hand vintage and designer store, most recently mentioned in British Vogue. Bridging the gap between local business and emerging designers, this partnership breathes new life into ODA, upcycling every piece into a one-off Ready-To-Wear capsule line that champions circular fashion. Culminating with performances and DJ sets from previous ODA Angels SYR, DJ Melted and Sweet Philly, expect a spectacle of experimentation and audiovisual art immersing you deeper into the ODA realm - proceed with caution. Event Information: Location: Westport Oracle, 27 Westport, EH1 2LD, Edinburgh, Scotland Date: 11th March 2025 Doors: 8pm Accessability: Partially accessible - 2 step entrance and accessible toilet available HOUSE RULES: This is a queer-orientated event and discriminatory will not be tolerated. Please respect all performers and guests boundaries and do not touch without consent. Any discriminatory behaviour will result in immediate removal from event. Information Source: eventbrite
