We are delighted to announce that registration is now open for our annual junior & mini tennis closed club tournament taking place on Friday 20th June 2025 (U16s and U18s) and Sunday 22nd June 2025 (all other categories) and would like to invite all our junior members to take part. The tournaments have been specifically designed to cater for all abilities from those with little to no match experience to those who are competing regularly. The emphasis is very much on fun and will enable players to put into practice everything they have learned in training. For our younger players we will have our older juniors, parents and coaches on hand to help them score and guide them through the process. The format will be a round robin singles tournament with the opportunity to play 3 or 4 matches. The tournament will be taking place for all age categories at different times throughout the day as shown below and you can book your place via Eventbrite by following the links below. Payments is by card on the day and is £6.00 per entry. Safely build your cycling confidence with Pedal Ready and the University of Sheffield Parking & Sustainable Travel team via a guided ride. You’ll be surprised at how pedal-friendly Meadowhall Shopping Centre has become. Our seasoned cycle instructors at Pedal Ready will shepherd a flock of us to Meadowhall. Soak up some beautiful nature and beef up your quads on route. This trip leaves the Arts Tower then winds safely though the city centre and over the River Don on to the Meadowhall Cycle Hub (for some potential refreshments). The route then doubles back on itself and returns to the Arts Tower. The full ride (including return) is approximately eleven miles but crosses some moderate hills, so a medium level of fitness will be required. The attached image of the outbound route is approximate and may change at the ride leader’s discretion. Cycling is an inexpensive way to travel and its fitness benefits are considerable. University hybrid bikes are available to borrow for this event. Contact parking@sheffield.ac.uk prior to the ride to check the availability of a suitable bike/helmet. Riders are encouraged to dress sensibly and wear sunscreen if it's hot.

Learn how to create your own linocut print in this practical session with Sheffield-based artist and printmaker James Green. Bring along an image to base your linocut print on, whether that be a drawing, photograph or illustration, and leave with a completed A6 size one-colour linocut print, plus your plate and test prints. During this special one-off workshop, you’ll learn how to prepare your image for the lino, safely use the tools and print using a press and spoons. This workshop is in collaboration with Sheffield’s Selected Space market, curated by makers at Yorkshire Artspace, taking place at Persistence Works 11-13 July 2025. Over 3 days you can peruse and purchase beautiful items, all crafted by artists and makers from across the region. Join silversmith Charlotte Tollyfield at Yorkshire Artspace, Persistence Works for a 2 day hands-on smithing skills workshop! Learn the specialist silversmithing art of hand raising and create a beautiful hanging planter using traditional hammer techniques to raise a copper bowl. You will then make a chain cradle from which to hang your bowl, before planting it up ready to take home and display. This in-person event is a great introduction for beginners and perfect practice for those wanting to increase their skill. Over the course of each day Charlotte will lead you through every step of the process and support you in your making. At the end of the two days you’ll take your beautiful piece away with you to proudly display at home or gift to someone special. Tea, Coffee, biscuits and fruit will be provided throughout the 2 days. Each day there will be a break for lunch, and you can choose to bring a packed lunch or take advantage of one of the local cafes including Kollective Kitchen, Tamper and Showroom. Additional Info Most of this course is centered around hammer work which can be quite physically demanding. While it is suitable for complete beginners, it is important that you have a reasonable level of strength and stamina in your arms and hands, and are comfortable standing for most of the day. For safety reasons this workshop is for 18+ only. Location The workshop will take place in the Silver Space facility at Yorkshire ArtSpace’s Persistence Works studio complex in the heart of Sheffield city centre. A specialist facility for contemporary silversmithing in the north providing space for teaching classes, short term bench hire and settled space for professional silversmiths. About Charlotte Charlotte Tollyfield is a professional silversmith with over 15 years’ experience, designing and making her own contemporary silverware and copper pieces that she exhibits throughout the UK. She also takes on both private and corporate commission work. This has included the 2018 St. Leger Stakes trophy, and the Barber Emeritus ceremonial goblets for the Worshipful Company of Barbers in London. Charlotte began offering silversmithing courses in 2017 from her own workshop within Yorkshire Artspace’s Persistence Works, focusing on the key skills of this ancient and noble trade, including hand raising, forging and saw piercing.

We’re Floating Art, a small arts business based in the North. We’ve been teaching people how to paint here for over 7 years now. At our workshops you’ll be taught by a practicing artist Ula Fung and helped along by her partner Ryan. We specialise in workshops that combine both fun & learning and believe you can never forget the learning!
Our Japanese Painting Workshop is our flagship workshop. A workshop for both art lovers and Japan Lovers!
We’ll teach you some basics of the Japanese Painting style known as Nihonga (日本画) and teach you how to paint using traditional materials that includes bamboo brushes, sumi ink, Gansai Tambi 顔彩耽美 (Traditional Japanese colours), gold leaves onto Silk or Rice Paper Fans. The seasons are a big part of Japanese culture and for that reason we keep the themes and topics of our workshops seasonal. For this workshop we’ll be covering the topic of the Japanese Summer we’ll bring a large selection of topical references from a wide range of Japanese Artists, both classic and contemporary.
Our Workshops are not about copying what’s in front of you but designing and making something of your own. You’ll learn all you need to know about how to do that in the session. Most of our students haven’t painted in a long time. This painting class is suitable for beginners as well as those with a little more artistic experience, so don't worry if it's your first time. Your teacher will be on hand to provide guidance and answer any questions. We just ask that you treat Ula with respect by listening to her demonstration as well as her advice. At the end of your art class, you'll get the chance to stand back and admire your beautiful Japanese painting. You'll head home with your piece and a new skill that's perfect to practice whenever you're looking to clear your head. Make a day of it! This workshop is located at the Cambridge Street Collective Food hall in Sheffield. Food & Drink will be available to purchase from their wide selection of vendors and you can choose to have these either before, during or after the workshop. Why not make a day of it? *Towards the end of the workshop there will be an opportunity for you to get your photo taken. We will use these photos for social media and promotional use.
