The Dungeness Crab Festival | Port Angeles
Celebration
The Dungeness Crab Festival is dedicated to celebrating the cultural heritage and seafaring traditions of the Dungeness crab region. Our mission is to engage the community, support local businesses, and provide enriching, educational, and entertaining experiences through our annual festival and related events. We are committed to promoting sustainability, economic growth, and community unity, celebrating the heritage of Dungeness crab, and appreciating the natural beauty of our region.
The Crab Festival is a free, three-day event held each October in downtown Port Angeles, Washington. Our festival always falls on the same weekend as Canadian Thanksgiving, which falls on the second Monday in October. The Crab Festival welcomes approximately 12,000 visitors each year, approximately 4,000 of whom travel on the Black Ball Ferry from Victoria, British Columbia.
This event takes place primarily outdoors, rain or shine—and October weather on the Washington coast can get a bit wet! This weekend is a great time to bring your favorite wellies. The festival features free live music, a market stall showcasing over 75 excellent craft and used goods vendors, fun activities for kids, live search and rescue demonstrations (Saturday afternoon, time permitting), free tours of a U.S. Coast Guard vessel, a beer and wine garden, and of course – food!
