Students in this workshop will create a work of abstraction from an assortment of materials including acrylic paint, charcoal, graphite, and toned paper. Each participant will be able to have a framed, finished piece to take home at the end of the workshop. Studio Practice is a monthly series of hands-on, practical art classes where students of all levels learn to create in varying media with the instruction of a local artist. ABOUT BRIT WEBBER Brit Webber is a visual artist whose work explores the ways in which we capture the essence of ideas through marks, colors and compositions. Her work is largely influenced by the conceptual foundations of architectural design, graph design, and pattern making. She works primarily in acrylic, but often employs other media such as graphite, oil pastels, and ink to emphasize contrasting ideas or details. Brit graduated from the University of Florida in 2019 where she then instructed leisure courses in abstract painting for 2 years before moving back to Jacksonville. In addition to being an artist, she is also an independent graphic designer and has worked with a range of local agencies and organizations including the Jacksonville Film Festival, Ruckus, and Wingard. Some of her hobbies include going on monthly library hauls, solving Sudoku puzzles, sewing, nature hikes, and watching independent art house films.
