Special Exhibition "Koji Kinutani: Towards Peace" | Koji Kinutani Tenku Art Museum
Dec 12, 2024–Jun 30, 2025 (UTC+9)
Osaka
Nihon Hidankyo, the Japan Confederation of A- and H-Bomb Sufferers Organizations, has been awarded the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize.
It can be said that this is the fruit of the activities carried out by the only country in the world that has suffered from atomic bombings,
which has continued to call for the abolition of nuclear weapons and has poured its heart and soul into such efforts.
The recognition that peace is the common prayer of all human kind is universal, regardless of whether we live in the East or the West.
In light of the recent international situation, the Koji Kinutani Tenku Art Museum will hold a Special Exhibition, “Koji Kinutani Peace,”
a proposal for peace through the power of art and the arts. At the root of Kinutani's world, which uses rich images and colors to explore all things in nature as a motif,
is the strong belief that “Art is mightier than nuclear weapons.” His ideals and strong passion are to show the power of art as “wisdom” to help people all over
the world who are suffering from the ravages of war, and to celebrate the revival of dreams and hopes in the hearts of people.
Please fully experience the true essence of Kinutani’s art.

Paul McCartney Photographs 1963-64 Eyes of the Storm | GRAND FRONT OSAKA
Oct 12, 2024–Jan 5, 2025 (UTC+9)ENDED
Osaka
An unprecedented exhibition, revealing – for the first time – extraordinary photographs taken by Paul McCartney. In this show, we focus on portraits captured by McCartney, using his own camera, between December 1963 and February 1964 – a time when The Beatles were catapulted from a British sensation to a global phenomenon. These never-before-seen images offer a uniquely personal perspective on what it was like to be a ‘Beatle’ at the start of ‘Beatlemania’ – and adjusting from playing gigs on UK stages, to performing to 73 million Americans on The Ed Sullivan Show. At a time when so many camera lenses were on the band, Paul McCartney’s photographs offer a crucial new perspective on the story of a band creating cultural history – in one of its most exciting chapters.

The Possibilities of Linear Expression | The National Museum of Art, Osaka
Nov 2, 2024–Jan 26, 2025 (UTC+9)ENDED
Osaka
A drawing begins with a line. There are many types of lines, such as curved, straight, dotted, and wavy lines. And the expression of the line will change depending on the material used for drawing. Pencils or pens can draw thin and sharp lines, while charcoal or chalk can draw thick and soft lines. In traditional Japanese painting, lines are regarded as an important element that expresses the artist's personality.
Line drawing is a sketch of a finished work that aims to clearly outline the form of an object. In the world of lines, by dividing and depicting various existences in the world, each object is fixed in the field of meaning. In this process, the abstract concept of contour lines that do not exist in reality becomes the basis of painting. On the other hand, after entering the modern era, the expression of lines has been given independent value. In abstract paintings born after the 20th century, the plasticity of lines has begun to attract attention. Painters began to pursue new line creations, which made lines begin to show unprecedented diversity and expressiveness. Therefore, while being the origin of painting, lines have also begun to become an ancient and novel theme. This exhibition will select about 150 works from the collection, mainly prints and drawings, supplemented by paintings, sculptures and photography, to show the diversity of line expression in modern art. This exhibition will provide an interesting place for the audience to explore the visual role of lines that are not often paid attention to in daily life.

GRAND WISH CHRISTMAS 2024 Infinity Lights | Osaka
Nov 7–Dec 25, 2024 (UTC+9)ENDED

I wish you a sparkling wish this winter.
This year's Christmas theme is "Infinite Lights",
The wishes of the unique people who gather in Umekita will be expressed as "Infinite Lights". We will bring a sparkling Christmas to
all those who come to Grand Front Osaka.
A huge Christmas tree about 10 meters high will appear, emitting various lights, like a glittering kaleidoscope. The light that spreads throughout the space changes the way it emits light depending on the viewing angle and time, shrouding the Knowledge Square in a magical atmosphere. Wonderful light shows are held every day, making you feel like you have entered the world of kaleidoscopes.
Approximately 250,000 LED bulbs light up around the Umekita Square in front of JR Osaka Station, rendering the entire town in champagne gold. This year, Gran Green Osaka, which opened early on September 6, will also light up with the same color of lights, making the entire Umekita area even more beautiful and bright.
Umeda's iconic artwork "Ted Hibert" will be renewed again this year. Wear a mirrored party jacket and the light from the surrounding small trees will reflect on the water and mirrors, creating a dreamy, dazzling look to welcome you.
