RESONANCE: An Elmhurst Ballet Company Performance | Elmhurst Ballet School

Mar 29, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Bristol

Ballet
Elmhurst Ballet Company, the graduate year of Elmhurst Ballet School presents Resonance, abold mixed bill of classical and contemporary dance. The young company have collaborated with established choreographers, dance artists and organisations to bring Resonance to the stage. The company performs a wide range of repertoire including a brand-new work using AI choreographed by Studio Wayne McGregor artist, Jessica Wright. This is the seventh project between Elmhurst Ballet School and Studio Wayne McGregor. The Company will also dance one of the most successful pieces of contemporary ballet from the 1930s when they take on an excerpt from Vakhtang Chabukiani’s Laurencia. From its first performance at the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg in 1939, Chabukiani was credited with creating a new choreographic language by means of his own blend of folk dance and classical dance. He asserted once and for all the importance of male dance. The company is also showcased in Tangueras by Avatâra Ayuso; Amour Bohème, a new jazz piece by Elmhurst teacher, Cris Penfold; and What’s the Time Where You Are? by Daniel Davidson. New works by Birmingham Royal Ballet Principal dancer, Lachlan Monaghan, and Elmhurst Ballet Company artists Spike Frobisher and Tom Wood complete the programme. In Resonance, the spectrum of human connection and the interpersonal interactions which shape our worlds are fearlessly explored by Elmhurst Ballet Company. No matter how technology changes, or communication tools develop, it is our physical and emotional resonance to one another, as humans, which endures. Doors will open at 6:30pm for a 7pm curtain up. Please note that parking on-site is extremely limited. There is parking available close by at The MAC/Cannon Hill Park, just a short walk away from the school. If you require accessible parking, easy access seating, or have any general enquiries, please contact development@elmhurstdance.co.uk. Information Source: Elmhurst Ballet School | eventbrite
