Camp Overview This three-day, hands-on sports medicine camp, led by the Health System Sports Medicine team, is designed to introduce high school students to the field of sports medicine, athletic training and the many associated career opportunities. An adaptive trike isa three-wheeled vehicle designed for individuals with disabilities, providing stability and adjustable features to accommodate their specific needs and abilities. Thursday 5th June | 6pm The Comic Elements in Shakespeare's Plays (1886-87) A Gail-Nina Anderson lecture I wonder whether a talk on this topic delivered at the Lit & Phil in 1886 may have revealed a gap in taste between Elizabethan and Victorian concepts of comedy? The humour of character may retain its essential power, but some of the Bard’s earthy vulgarity and rude word-play strikes quite a different note. This illustrated lecture challenges the notion that Shakespeare’s jokes aren’t funny, looks at the different modes of comedy from satirical to lyrical to physical, considers the specialist role of the clown in theatrical companies, consider memorable moments in recent productions, and guarantees really quite a few laughs. On the eve of the 2025 Tour de France, Carlton Kirby, the Voice of Cycling, brings a night of tall tales and frank opinions from his 25 years’ covering the sport. In a funny and revealing evening for all cycling fans, Carlton will be sharing his front-row experiences from the Tour de France and other big races – plus the lessons he’s learned from life on the road, as a bon viveur in budget hotels across Europe. Carlton is the last in the line of the great character commentators - cycling's answer to cricket's Henry Blofeld, F1's Murray Walker or darts' Sid Waddell. He has been in the commentary box for a golden age of British cycling and the evening will also include stories of his not-always-happy dealings with British stars from Bradley Wiggins and Chris Froome to Mark Cavendish and his gantry partner-in-crime Sean Kelly.
