Ndidi O | Festival Hall
Apr 3, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
Calgary
Presented by Calgary Folk Music Festival A force of nature who grew up in small town British Columbia, Ndidi is the daughter of a Nigerian father and a German mother who represents a distinctly Canadian experience – standing astride lines blurred between contrasting cultures and heritages. Once she discovered her voice and collected a diverse range of sounds and styles, her talents took her away from home to New York City, Toronto, Paris and Los Angeles collaborating with her trip-hop duo BOGA (alongside Mischa Chillak) and with The Blue and Gold (her collaboration with multi-instrumental singer-songwriter Trish Klein of Be Good Tanyas). Through her singing Ndidi invites us into a musical universe filled with waves of blues, folk, rock, Americana and country that results in a journey that starts and ends in the soul. Her expressive, dynamic vocal range is delicate and almost ethereal at one moment – such as her interpretation of “Sugarman” and, unleashing raw and fearsome power in others, like powerhouse percussive originals ‘Call me Queen’ and ‘No Mercy.’ Ndidi O’s live performances crackle with electricity and passion, seeing music as “an emotional way of understanding the world.” April 3rd, 2025

Chinatown Clay Club SUNDAYS | 110 3 Ave SE
Apr 13, 2025 (UTC-6)ENDED
Calgary
Clay Club offers an affordable and accessible space for individuals to learn fundamental ceramic hand-building techniques. All proceeds benefit Good Neighbour's free clothing store, which provides clothing, food, and other essential items to those in need.
HOW IT ALL WORKS
You will receive hands-on assistance from our facilitator as needed. However, we do not offer structured lessons or specific project teachings. Previous experience with clay may come in handy.
If you are looking for more structured and in-depth learning, please check out our 4-week beginner hand-building course!
Clay Club is designed for you to bring your own creative ideas and is focused on independent practice.
Once you have finished making your pieces, they will be stored on our shelves until you are ready to return and paint them. For optimal results, we recommend applying underglaze when the clay is bone dry, it takes about a week for clay to completely dry. While you can paint your pieces when they are still wet, the colors may not be as vibrant or opaque. Please note that all pieces must be painted/fully finished before we proceed with firing. Alternatively, you may choose to have your pieces fired as-is, without painting. If you decide to wait for your pieces to dry first and paint on a later date, you will have to pre-register by purchasing our $20 ticket option.
We have all the tools and supplies needed to create, however, you’re welcome to bring your own tools.
We ask that you complete your projects within 2 months of your initial start date as we have limited shelving space. We understand life can get busy, so please let us know if you're unable to return right away so we can accommodate you.
FIRING
We fire all completed work once a month to keep costs low. All pieces will be fired at the end of each month.
Example:
If you finish your pieces in November, they will be fired after the last Clay Club session of the month.
Firing and glazing ceramics is a time-consuming process, so it may take up to four weeks to complete all firings after the monthly cut-off date.
We will notify you via email once your pieces are fired and ready for pick-up.
As a private studio, we are only open to the public during scheduled class and event times. Our email will include specific days and times available for picking up your work.
TICKET INFO
Red Ticket:
You will receive up to 2 lbs of clay per session; more clay is available for $3 per pound if needed. Unused clay amounts are not transferable to future sessions. You will also have access to our coloured underglazes.
Purple Ticket:
Bring your own clay! Acceptable brands are Plainsman, PSH, or Tuckers and must be cone 6.
Blue Ticket:
No clay is provided. You will have access to our coloured underglazes to paint and finish pieces made from previous weeks.
Cancellation Policy
: Please provide at least 24 hours' notice so we can fill your spot. Tickets are final sale and non-refundable but can be transferred to future dates.

Birthing with Intention - April 2025 session | Dragonfly Maternity
Apr 16, 2025 (UTC-6)ENDED
Calgary
Join us we dive in to the process of pregnancy & birth so you hone into your intuition and birth with intention.
Bri from Innate Passage (formerly The Balsamic Moon) and Cher from Dragonfly Maternity come together quarterly to offer this empowering evening for blossoming birthers. We help the overwhelmed and confused birther to know your options and discover useful tools to connect to your body so that you can feel in control, empowered & enlightened to birth with intention.
Beyond Birth Education… What sets us apart?
This workshop is for women who want to take their birth prep to the next level. We believe there is more to birth than simply learning the fundamentals! Yes, there is the functional “stages of labour” aspect to birthing your baby (the 411, when to head to hospital, what is an epidural) — information which allows you to make informed decisions around your care… however this workshop is beyond birth education. Though we touch on the fundamentals of pregnancy and birth; we go deeper, leaning into the emotional heartspace of birth. Our goal is to bridge the gap and fuse the informative decision making process with what it means to connect to your body and your baby; elevating your birth into an empowered co-creation.
What to expect
The evening is crafted in a way that allows you to hone in on your powerful mama intuition and the preferences you have around birth, leaving you feeling more confident and in control for birth-day.
Cher and Bri come together to offer
• Postures to consider at birth from an experienced Prenatal Yoga Instructor & Mama
• Insights from an experienced Calgary Birth Doula
Other aspects of the experiential night include...
• Breathwork
• Visualizations
• Guided Meditations
• Community Connections & Outsourcing Resources
Open Q&A will allow for topics to come forward from the group in our confidential setting.
In addition to the guided content that we'll be sharing with you, there will also be the opportunity to mingle with fellow birthers in attendance towards the end of our evening. Strengthening connections with others on their pregnancy journey offers many benefits of support through parenthood.
The Details
General Admission
at our in-person workshop includes an invitation to our private Facebook group. This online group is a great place for us to connect with each other before & after the session, share birth pics & stories, and bond through the parenthood journey. The private group will allow communication with co-facilitators, Cher & Bri, outside of the workshop to answer questions and to continue providing resources in the community as needed.
Add-on Opportunity:
Participants also have the option to purchase access to pre-recorded content for future reference.
