Riding On Insulin is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by pro backcountry snowboarder Sean Busby. With the help of our exceptional T1D coaches, we've taught thousands of kids & teens with Type 1 diabetes how to ski & snowboard, surf and mountain bike since 2010. We welcome participants of all ability and experience levels. First timer? There's no better place to learn how to ride! We provide a safe, fun learning environment and a memorable introduction to skiing or snowboarding for those with Type 1 diabetes and their siblings/friends. All of our coaches either have T1D themselves, or love someone with T1D. Experienced skier or snowboarder? Campers are grouped together based on age and experience level. More advanced groups spend the day honing their skills with one of our seasoned coaches while exploring the mountain. When you register for one of our camps, you're signing up for more than a day on the mountain . You're joining a community of people who "get it" — a tight-knit community who knows what it's like to live with Type 1 diabetes every single day. We're pushing the limits of the disease in a safe environment, learning that anything is possible with T1D, and we want you to join us! What's Included: 1. A fun Virtual Orientation We kick off the weekend with a *LIVE* 45-minute virtual orientation with our families and coaches. We play a few games, answer any questions and hear from our partners about the latest and greatest in insulin pump therapy and CGM technology. We also have a Certified Diabetes and Education Specialist on every call to answer any questions regarding blood sugar management, temp basals, Automated Insulin Delivery systems, etc! There are chances to win prizes thorughout the call to keep all the campers engaged. 2. The Coolest Swag Bag in the Diabetes World Upon checking in at camp, your camper will receive a drawstring bag with swag, including a 2026 winter camp shirt, keychain, stickers, an enamel pin & items from sponsors. We take pride in our original graphic designs and high quality, durable shirts and hoodies so you can wear them for years to come. If you p re-order a hoodie, beanie or hat when you register, those items will be in your camper's bag at check-in. 3. Epic Camp Day On camp day, we split into groups of 4-6 campers, which are led by our T1D coaches and volunteers and have names like "Team Shred" and "Team Slin" A typical schedule for camp is below, but please note , this is an example schedule. Join the Arts Council of Princeton for a remarkable event celebrating the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop. The "50 Years of Hip Hop: Community Dance Party" will take place on October 20 at the Arts Council of Princeton located at 102 Witherspoon Street, in Princeton, NJ. This event is a tribute to the iconic dance form that revolutionized the Bronx, NY in the early 1980s and became a way of life for a local group of Princeton dancers. Influenced by the famous breakdance crews, The Rock Steady Crew and NYC Breakers, these talented dancers formed the group Top Rockers. With their skills honed at the Arts Council of Princeton, they quickly rose to prominence and took on local dance crews in Mercer County, achieving great success. Join us for an enlightening lecture on the profound significance of shadows in nineteenth-century Danish culture, titled "Hammershøi’s Shadow" by Bridget Alsdorf, a distinguished Professor at Princeton University. Taking place on November 3, 2023, at the Perry and Marty Granoff Center for the Creative Arts in Providence, this thought-provoking event will delve into the philosophical motif of shadows, as depicted in the works of prominent Danish figures such as Hans Christian Andersen, Søren Kierkegaard, and Vilhelm Hammershøi. Through her expertise in European art from the seventeenth to the mid-twentieth century, Professor Alsdorf will explore how shadows transcend mere design elements or realistic details, instead serving as a metaphor for the essential connections that underpin Hammershøi's artistic vision. Focusing on his minimalist and proto-abstract interiors, particularly those featuring his wife and collaborator, Ida, the lecture will elucidate the social nature of artistic creation, the interplay between artistic mediums, and the broader philosophical inquiries illuminated by artists. Professor Alsdorf's distinguished background and extensive research, coupled with her authorship of two books, "Fellow Men: Fantin-Latour and the Problem of the Group in Nineteenth-Century French Painting" (2013) and "Gawkers: Art and Audience in Late Nineteenth-Century France" (2022), make her a leading authority on the subject. Currently, she is working on her forthcoming book, which explores the themes of intimacy and collaboration in modern Scandinavian painting, photography, and silent cinema, supported by a prestigious 2023 Guggenheim Fellowship and a grant from the American-Scandinavian Foundation. This captivating event promises to shed new light on the captivating world of shadows in Danish culture, and attendance is free of charge. Don't miss this opportunity to gain insights into the profound connections between art, philosophy, and the human experience.
