We leave Ironbridge on The Shropshire Way before dropping towards Buildwas and Farley through fields and woodland to Homer. We climb Wenlock Edge, dropping at Smokey Hole, to continue under The Edge. We climb again to Presthope and on to Bourton where we stop at the church for lunch. We then follow field paths, picking up the line of the old railway and back to Much Wenlock. We return to Ironbridge via the remains of Arlescott Medieval Village, Benthall Hall and Benthall Woods. Lovely views throughout. Grade of Walk: Strenuous Length: 21 miles Pace: Brisk Terrain: Mixed/ Field paths/ woodland/ bridleways/ quiet lanes/ road. Steps and Stiles: Yes Dog Friendly: NO Walk Leader: Ian Kelsey Specific Walk Information: Muddy/ possibly overgrown. One very busy road to cross. Essential Information for Walkers: All walks take place within the Ironbridge Gorge which will naturally include uphill and downhill sections. Please come prepared for the walk. Bringing at least 2 litres of water is recommended along with enough food for 2 snack breaks and a lunch break as we will not be passing anywhere to purchase supplies along the route. Good walking boots/shoes are essential and be prepared for wet or sunny weather- possibly both in the same day! Under 18s, accompanied by an adult with parental responsibility, may be able to undertake this walk. Please contact info@ironbridgewalking.co.uk to discuss. Please allow plenty of time to reach your event, parking can be tricky in the gorge! It is possible to reach Ironbridge via public transport but there are limited services. Medals are available for anyone completing 25,50,75 or 100 miles over 3 or more walks during the festival and if you complete over 150 miles you will receive our new Cartman Challenge medal – it has been done!!!.
