Designed for beginners and those new to working with passementerie, this Level 1 course offers a comprehensive understanding of the historical styles from the late 18th century. Participants will learn how to work with flat silk thread and master the art of tying 5 basic styles of knotted fringe. Additionally, students will create 2 styles of passementerie base trims, including chain stitch and weaving, and showcase their skills through a sampler of knotted fringes and trim combinations. To participate in the workshop, students will need to purchase a kit from the educator on the first day of the course. The kit, priced at $170, includes essential tools and materials such as smooth tatting bobbins, an inkle loom, shuttles, crochet hooks, knitting needles, silk thread, gimp, and more.
