Pottery Night Out | The Giving Tree Wellness Center

May 23, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Scranton
Cultural Experiences
Participants will use hand-building techniques to create their own pottery, from molding to painting and decorating. This creative experience includes all materials and processes: pottery experience, paint/glazing, tools, and firing to make your piece food, microwave, and dishwasher safe. After the event, pieces will be taken to the studio for glazing and firing, and finished pieces will be delivered back to The Giving Tree for pickup (allow 2-4 weeks for processing). Things to consider during the event: 1. This experience is BYOB and snacks. 2. Please remove your jewelry from your wrists and fingers before we begin. 3. Wear clothing and shoes that you don't mind getting a little dirty. Disclaimer: We cannot guarantee that you will create the exact shape and result from the pottery piece in the sample images you will see. We will make every effort to work with you to create the shape of handcrafted potteryyou desire, but remember that each piece will look different in shape and size depending on what you create. Every piece will be beautiful since it will be made by you! All of your creative energy will be embedded to enjoy for a lifetime! Note that unexpected things can happen during the pottery-making process, and the material can react in unexpected ways. While we will take every precaution to achieve a successful piece, clay can break during drying, transportation, or firing. If your handcrafted pottery doesn't get completed, you will receive a handcrafted pottery piece made by our artisan. Information Source: The Giving Tree Wellness Center | eventbrite

Join us on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at 2pm at The Theater at North as Entertainment Events presents "Sister's Summer School Catechism." It’s summer and Sister is NOT happy. It seems the diocese has decided to offer a summer school catechism course for those students who weren’t paying attention all year. Instead of three relaxing weeks at the motherhouse, Sister is stuck with her students this summer! And summer is already rough enough for Sister – try wearing 50pounds of gabardine in 90-degree heat! Sister will discuss such questions as, “Did Jesus have to go to summer school?" or “What is an appropriate summer vacation for a practicing Catholic?” And she’s sure to talk about the best way to make use of what’s left of your summer vacation. Beat the heat with Sister this summer, and if you know what’s good for you, don’t be late!
