London
Celebration
There's no better way to kick off the New Year than in the heart of London, where the streets come alive with color, music, and celebration. The London Parade returns, bigger than ever, for its 40th anniversary. What began as a bold idea to bring people together has blossomed into one of the world's most spectacular street celebrations, and this year promises to be the most exciting yet.
Every January, London transforms into a stage for the world. Over 8,500 performers from around the world gather to put on a dazzling spectacle for the city. From energetic marching bands to graceful dancers, giant helium balloons to acrobatics, cheerleaders, vintage cars, and elaborate floats from every borough of London, there's plenty to see. It's more than just a parade; it's a spectacular spectacle from start to finish.
The parade route stretches 2.2 miles, winding through the historic heart of Westminster, passing some of the city's iconic landmarks along the way. The parade departs near Piccadilly Green Park Station, and the action begins at the entrance.
The parade marched down Piccadilly, flanked by the opulent Ritz Hotel and bustling Piccadilly Circus. From there, it meandered through Regent Street and St. James's, one of London's most elegant streets, before turning left onto Pall Mall. With views of Trafalgar Square on one side and leafy Green Park on the other, the route showcased both the grandeur and charm of London.

Lisa Brice: Keep Your Powder Dry | Sadie Coles HQ

London
Exhibitions
Known for her depictions of women in interiors and work environments, Bryce reflects on the erosion of the concept of "safety" in our current sociopolitical climate. She imbues her figures with a collective code of confidence, a courageous yet defensive response that symbolizes the reversal and triumph of the underdog. Her protagonists are powerful, proactive, and action-oriented: Davids rather than Goliaths, Judiths rather than Holofernes. Bryce draws on the imagery of violence in art historical works such as Artemisia Gentileschi, Caravaggio, Manet, and Magritte, as well as Honor Blackman's 1965 book, The Book of Self-Defense, which features illustrations of glamorous fighters in judo uniforms beating men to a pulp.

Radical Harmony: Helene Kröller-Müller's Neo-Impressionists | The National Gallery

When critics first saw Georges Seurat’s new style of painting, they thought it might bring about the death of painting itself. But what was it about artists like Paul Signac, Anna Boch, Jan Toorop and Henri-Edmond Cross, that ruffled so many feathers? Neo-Impressionists painted in small dots of pure colour. Viewed from a distance, the colours blend to create nuanced tones and an illusion of light. Now known as pointillism, this technique simplified form and played with colour in an entirely new way, verging on the edge of abstraction. Alongside this exciting approach to colour, their style went hand-in-hand with radical political ideas. They captured late 19th-century European society through luminous landscapes, portraits and interior scenes, while also depicting the struggles faced by the working class, in reaction against the industrial age. Most of the paintings we’re exhibiting were collected by Helene Kröller-Müller, one of the first great women art patrons of the 20th century. She assembled the most comprehensive ensemble of Neo-Impressionist paintings in the world. Collected with the aim of being publicly accessible, these works now form part of the Kröller-Müller Museum in the Netherlands, which Helene Kröller-Muller founded. See these radical visions of pure colour for yourself in Radical Harmony: Helene Kröller-Müller’s Neo-Impressionists. This exhibition is a collaboration between the National Gallery and the Kröller-Müller Museum, Otterlo
Lee Miller | Tate Britain

London
Exhibitions
A major exhibition of the trailblazing surrealist photographer Lee Miller
With the most extensive retrospective of her photography yet staged in the UK, Tate Britain celebrates Lee Miller as one of the 20th century's most urgent artistic voices.
First exposed to a camera by working in front of it, Miller was one of the most sought-after models of the late 1920s. She quickly stepped behind the lens, becoming a leading figure in the avant-garde scenes in New York, Paris, London and Cairo.
The exhibition will showcase Miller’s extraordinary career, from her participation in French surrealism to her fashion and war photography. Exploring her artistic collaborations, the exhibition will also shed light on lesser-known sides of her practice, such as her remarkable images of the Egyptian landscape in the 1930s.
