Pointe Mouillee is a significant waterfowl habitat and one of the largest freshwater marsh restoration projects in North America, encompassing 7,483 acres of wetlands and open water. Adding to the magic of Pointe Mouillee is the fact that it exists within the Atlantic and Mississippi flyways bringing numerous migrating species of birds to rest and refuel. You could see White Pelicans, Redheads, Scaups, Gadwalls, Common Goldeneyes, Buffleheads, Northern Pintails, Northern Shovelers and other waterfowl. Other birds sometimes sighted on these walks are Eagles, Northern Harriers and Merlins. Plus a few mammels like the keystone wetland species, Muskrats. Meeting Location: We will meet in the Sigler Road parking lot for Pointe Mouillee State Game Area. For navigational purposes, use 8456 Sigler Road, South Rockwood, MI 48179 .
