Let's visit the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden in Oakdale! We'll take a tour where we will learn how the founding members cleaned up a toxic mine dumping ground and turned it into a lovely forest and gardens. The pond has a fascinating filtering system which continues to remove toxins from the underground water source.
The pond is surrounded by cherry trees which may be in bloom for our visit. After the tour, we can have lunch in their on-site restaurant.
The tour is open to HPGC nonmembers, but spots are limited. The cost is $23.18 - $20 for Botanic Garden admission + tour, plus $3.18 in Evenbrite fees.
