The Detroit Writing Room and our nonprofit arm Coaching Detroit Forward are excited to invite you to a Photography Exhibition and Perspectives Magazine 2025 Launch Party! The event celebrates the photos captured by Detroit high school students in Coaching Detroit Forward's Beginner and Advanced Photography Camps as well as articles written by teens who attended our Journalism Camp. Attendees will have an opportunity to view photos on exhibit at Playground Detroit, a Detroit gallery space. The annual award-winning Perspectives Magazine will also be released at the event. The magazine features the students' stories focused on health, the environment, social justice and community news as well as students' photos of downtown Detroit, nature, people, events and more. Photos on display will be auctioned, with live bidding ending at 6:40 p.m. Proceeds from photos will be split between the student photographer and CDF. There will be appetizers and drinks to enjoy while admiring the students' work. Remarks by coaches will be made at 5:30 p.m., followed by a celebratory toast. Tickets: This event is free to attend for students, parents, coaches, Coaching Detroit Forward partners and Detroit Writing Room members. We kindly request that the public and guests make a minimum $10 donation to CDF when registering for a ticket on Eventbrite. Space is limited! Tickets are first come, first serve! Registration closes at 5 p.m. on Nov. 14, 2025. Location: Playground Detroit 2845 Gratiot Ave, Detroit, MI 48207 Parking: Street parking is free along Gratiot Avenue and side streets. Fabrizio Copano is one of the most well-known comedians in Latin America and is the first South American comedian to shoot an original comedy special for Netflix. Actor and writer of the hit Chilean comedy show "El Club de la Comedia", Copano also lead his own late night show "El Late de Copano" and was one of the hosts of the Comedy Central Latin America produced "La Culpa es de Colon", a comedy super group with the top five comedians from 5 countries in Latin America. His 2016 film “Prueba de Actitud” (Attitude Test) which he co-wrote, directed, and starred in is still one of Chile’s highest grossing comedies of all time. When he is not touring and selling out theaters all over the US and Latin America, he co-hosts the hit iHeart Radio comedy podcast 4th From The South with Steve Hely, which explores political topics out of Latin America. Also an author, in 2019, he released a memoir, Mi Vida Como Dibujante, (My Life As a Doodler) which delved into his life from a "distracted child" to central figure of comedy in Latin America. Fabrizio was recently chosen as part of the coveted Just for Laughs 2022 New Faces cohort, and he also just made his American late night debut on THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH JAMES CORDEN. He is based in NY where he lives with his wife and son. COMEDY CLUB MAIN ENTRANCE LOCATED IN BACK OF BUILDING OFF OF PARKING LOT. Shows will be held on the lower level of The Norwood Theatre building. — Most tables seat 4 total guests. You may be seated with strangers if your party has less than four guests. — All shows are 17 and over. 21+ to drink. —2-Item Minimum (soft drinks, beer, wine, and liquor)* — 20% gratuity added to all checks. — No dress code. — Shows run about an hour and 15 minutes. — Doors open 30 minutes prior to show-time. Arriving at least 15 minutes before the show is always a good idea! — Seating is first come first serve with a strict no-call, no-show policy.
