Fun Fuel with Tom HillOne class. 5 hours. In all Tom’s many grizzled years of doing improv shows, he’s found that one key skill fuels great scenes: fun characters. From there, great games and hilarious scenes follow. In this one-day intensive you will hone this skill and explore how explosively fun it can be to take big character risks. Once those wild characters are in the room, you will practice getting the most out of them, both as the one playing the lead characters and as secondary swings in scenes. Together, you’ll gas each other up towards a blaster of a showcase that will double as a chance to show off maybe the most important skill in improv. This is a great workshop for those who have trouble playing characters or those who are already great character players but who lose the plot of the larger scene and can’t find game (and anyone in between). Prerequisites: Pre reqs: This class is open to anyone who has completed Fundamentals or higher, or who has equivalent experience (email us if you’re unsure!) Date and time: Saturday, April 19 | 10:00am-3:00pm Venue: Waterloo Visitor Information Centre | 10 Father David Bauer Dr Accessible Pricing: If cost is a barrier for you, please email Ben@PinchCabaret.com and we'll figure out an accessible price. Don't be shy! About the instructor: Tom Hill (he/him) is an improvisor, actor and writer from Regina, Saskatchewan. As half of the duo Hip.Bang!, Tom has co-written, directed and produced all manner of video, live and radio projects since 2008, including multiple international tours, 2019’s look at modern surveillance and invasion of privacy Surveil (with Marie Farsi), 2022’s Home, 2024’s Theatrum…you get the idea. He has appeared at Just For Laughs and Just For Laughs NorthWest, and showcased for Comedy Central and NBC. Tom has toured the world as an improviser and sketch comedian, written for various CBC Comedy projects including CBC Radio’s The Irrelevant Show and appeared in various TV and advertisements. He is one half of Amy&Tom (FERIIR, Reunion Island, Big City Improv Festival) and one eighth of Treat Show Comedy. Tom is the Artistic Director of Blind Tiger Comedy in Vancouver, a comedy company that produces hundreds of shows and classes each year with a focus on welcoming under represented voices into comedy. #LoveESOL Forum Theatre | Waterloo Action Centre

How do I learn English? Where do I find an ESOL class? ESOL funding in the UK has been cut by more than 50% in real terms since 2010. There are now fewer free ESOL classes available to migrants, not enough classes with childcare and a lack of information about where and how to find a class. The #LoveESOL campaign has been working since 2017 to ensure that anyone who needs an ESOL class can get one. As part of the campaign, English for Action ESOL students invite you to a forum theatre event to learn more about the problems migrants, refugees and people seeking asylum face when trying to access ESOL. The play will be performed with opportunities for audience members to intervene and propose changes to rules and resources in order to make ESOL more accessible. After the performance, there will be a facilitated discussion in groups where we will plan next steps together. Watch the performance and act with us for ESOL, on stage, in your classroom and in your community. To get in touch and for any further questions, please contact Kasia: kasia@efalondon.org We look forward to meeting you! Information Source: English For Action (EFA London) | eventbrite
