Attention Seniors! Join Heart Comonos every Monday and Wednesday morning for our FREE senior's fitness classes, suitable for those aged 55+. These classes are perfect for seniors who are looking to get out of the house, move their body and maybe even make some new friends. Mondays classes are a variety of general fitness exercises - strength, stretching, mobility, etc. Starting Monday January 13th , we will be hosting TWO fitness classes for the group. There will be a morning class from 10 to 11 a.m. and an afternoon class from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sign up for a section that works best for you! For the month of May, Wednesday classes will be focused on Fall Prevention and Balance, instructed by Diane Spence. Additional information: Modifications will be offered for those with joint issues and physical limitations stemming from surgery or injury. A variety of equipment will be used in addition to the participants own body weight. We will include some work on the mat as well as standing— although many standing exercises can be performed in a chair if that works better for you. Participants have the option of whether or not to use weights. Functional exercises will be included Every class will include a beginning warm up and cool down/stretching at the end Suitable for all levels. In these meditation classes, we will learn Buddhist meditations that enable us to transform the challenges and pain we encounter - both around us and within us - into opportunities for personal growth and spiritual development. As a result, we will cultivate qualities such as compassion and wisdom, while building the inner resilience necessary to face life’s daily challenges with courage and clarity. These classes include two guided meditations and a practical talk on a weekly topic. After each class, there is time for Q&A. Each class is self-contained, so you are welcome to join at any time. No previous experience is required. You do not need to bring anything with you, and the meditation is conducted on chairs (though you are welcome to bring a cushion if you prefer). The classes are held in the peaceful, friendly, and comfortable surroundings of the Clarke Memorial Hall. Thursday evenings, 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm By attending these classes, you will develop practical skills for letting go of negative minds and cultivating a more positive mindset. Teacher Judi Watson Judi has been practicing Buddhist meditation for over 20 years and enjoys sharing the transformative power of meditation from her personal experience.
