Summer Solstice sound journey & gong bath - Bournemouth | The Old School House Boscombe

Jun 20, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Boscombe
Cultural Experiences
Summer Solstice sound journey & gong bath. With Robin Freeman Friday 20th of June 7.30pm - 9.00pm Bournemouth Come and join us for a deeply meditative and immersive sound journey and gong bath experience with Robin Freeman. These sessions provide a safe space where you can come to relax, unwind, and just let go… An opportunity for self-healing, and for restoration of mind, body, and soul. Every session is a unique experience, and each week we work with different themes, directions, and intentions. For this session we turn our attention towards the Summer Solstice. Midsummer is here in all it's glory. It's a day to celebrate the power and abundance of the sun, a symbol of light, warmth, and growth . This energy can help us connect to our highest selves, nourish our soul, and amplify our intentions. It presents a perfet opportunity for us to give gratitude to all that we have and to feel gratitude for all that we want, which is a powerful part of the manifestation process. Together we will set strong affirmations for the things that we want to manifest into our lives. I am a sound healing practitioner, a gong master and a meditation guide. During my session's i like to combine all of these to create a very unique and immersive sound journey and gong bath experience. I work with a wide variety of healing instruments and tools that have been very carefully selected from many different countries around the world. When combined, these can directly and positively affect mood, brain waves, the nervous system, and body chemistry, with fantastic and profound results. The sounds and vibrations that are created in these sessions stimulate the body to recreate its own harmonic frequency and help produce the alpha waves that are present within our brains whilst in a state of deep relaxation. All you need to do is come along, lay down, and relax, as I guide you along a deeply meditative journey. These sessions can help with issues such as stress, anxiety, sleep disorders, depression, digestion, chakra realignment and energy flow. They also create a perfect opportunity to set new intentions or release any burdens that you no longer wish to carry. My sound journeys are also a great way to cleanse from any negative energy and emotional blockages. The average Human being consists of approximately 60% water. Water serves to conduct sound waves. During a sound journey these sound waves and vibrations create ripples that gently reverberate over and over. These circulate around and through-out the entire body to calm, relax and soothe. As a result of this it is common for the heart rate to slow down, the blood pressure to drop, and the breath to become calm, peaceful, and return to its natural rhythm. Once the session ends, it is common for attendees to feel very relaxed and then enjoy a lovely deep sleep that night, followed by a feeling of refreshment once you awaken the next day. During these sessions, along with a large selection of healing instruments and tools, I also use several very special gongs. These have been carefully chosen and induce a holistic resonance in the body and a spontaneous meditative state in the mind, resulting in a sense of expanded awareness and wholeness. This is both restorative and healing. It is just what our body, mind and soul needs to restore, refresh and revitalise. VENUE. The Old School House (T.O.S.H), Gladstone Road, Boscombe, Bournemouth. BH7 6BG. (Google maps). What3words; spices.tribal.spoil Come along and enjoy a warm welcome within our cosy, candle lit venue. Time to treat yourself to some well-deserved 'you time'. Free parking is available in our own private carpark right opposite the entrance door. There are 8 parking spaces. Once these are full, please feel free to double park, as we will all be leaving at the same time once the session has ended. This means that there is enough space for 12 cars to park here. Alternative free parking is available in the surrounding residential roads or at the large Sovereign Centre multi storey carpark, which is a 3 minute walk away. Our venue is wheelchair friendly! ADVANCED BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL. Energy exchange is £22 per person (plus the Eventbright booking fee). IMPORTANT DETAILS. *** Please arrive by 7.25pm (just 5 minutes before we are due to begin). This is when we open our doors to welcome everyone in. Please try to avoid arriving excessively early as you will have to wait outside until the doors open. This is because we will be busy preparing the venue for the session and are unable to let anyone inside until we are ready. Once we start our session at 7.30pm the door must be closed and locked to prevent any disturbances. We are unable to let people enter after the session has begun. This is only fair to everyone already inside. Thank-you for understanding. *** WHAT TO BRING. Comfy clothing, a pillow or something nice and comfy to rest your head upon, and some water to drink. Join CoCreate artists for a summer crown making workshop, ready for our magical procession through the woods at 4pm on the same afternoon, taking us to the fire lit storytelling site. This workshop suitable for younger children, accompanied and supervised by an adult. A lovely way to mark the height of summer together. Stay after the workshop and join us at 4pm to process together to our fireside story circle in the woods where we'll hear original and folk stories. The event will end around 5pm. You are welcome to stay longer however, and might like to bring marshmallows or similar to toast over the fire. Please be aware the storytelling takes place in the woods so do dress warmly. We can sometimes see a few midge in the summer evenings, so do bring insect repellant if you're susceptible. While there is some very limited seating available on fallen logs, and you may bring blankets, this is primarily a standing event. How Speed Dating Works in Bournemouth When you arrive at the Bournemouth venue you will be greeted by our friendly professional hosts. Once everyone has arrived and registered we will briefly explain the format of the evening. The ladies will then be asked to make their way to their allocated table. Once the ladies are seated the gentlemen will be asked to proceed to their first date. You will have 4 minutes to chat to each date, once the 4 minutes is over we will ring a bell to indicate the time is up and for the gentlemen to move to their next date. Four minutes is long enough to see if you click with the person you are talking to and whether you would like to see them again and also short enough if you don't. At the end of each date you have a brief few moments to make some notes on the person you have just dated. This is something to help jog your memory for the post event matching process the next day. Half way through the event you will have an interval break so you can nip to the toilet or top up your drink. Once all the dates are over you have the opportunity to stay on at the venue to mingle freely with others. Please remember to take your dating card home with you to assist you in entering in your ticks and potential matches. Post Event No later than 11am the following morning our matching system will be unlocked for you to enter your ticks from the previous evening. You have all day to tick as many people as you like from the night before. We guarantee you will find someone you will want to see again, otherwise we will give you your next Speed Dating event for free! Bournemouth
Cultural Experiences
People, Planet, Pastry If you’re interested or curious about sustainability, come along to the People, Planet, Pastry event to meet like-minded business owners who are taking action on sustainability. Learn about what is going on locally, share insights on how to overcome barriers and make new friends! This relaxed and informal event brings people together to learn more about sustainability and take action. The sister event, People, Planet, Pint, brings people together to learn more and chat about climate, while our “Pastry” series is focused on empowering small businesses with the action they can take and where to start with sustainability. While we will mostly be discussing businesses, this is an open event where anyone is welcome, so if you’re curious about what’s going on, come on down! Your Volunteer Host Karley Woodford is the Site Director at Patch Bournemouth, based on the first floor of Bobby’s. Patch is a co-working club with a passion for people, nourishing local communities, reinvigorating high street spaces and embracing a culture of care. When Karley’s not at Patch, you’ll find her hosting Yoga retreats as part of her side hustle as a Yoga Teacher or exploring the great outdoors with her Spanish rescue pup. Nick Whitnell is founder of Daring Works, a Dorset based consultancy and coaching business passionate about nurturing purposeful outcomes to achieve sustainable success. With an extensive career in corporate marketing, Nick made the decision to leave that world and follow his heart by training with B Corp as a ‘B Leader’ and also as a soulful coach. Nick is never far from the sea and loves exploring Dorset on his bike. About Us Small99 is a platform that guides small business owners to Net Zero and avoids the overwhelm. Small99 organises the PPP events, with the belief that bringing people together will spark unexpected solutions to collaboration in tackling climate change. Our Sponsor Small99 is delighted to partner with Sage who will become our key People Planet Pastry sponsor. The support of Sage will allow us to cover our event cost (including pastries), but also to expand to more cities and keep the conversations and decarbonisation actions growing. Sage is helping SMBs decarbonise through tech solutions and education. Conrad Langridge, Sage Earth: “We have seen the success of the People Planet Pint series run by Adam and the team, and having attended a number of sessions we know the value this is bringing the small business community, we wanted to support People Planet Pastry series to build on that success but in a way that focuses on SMB decarbonisation as a direct action."
