Make a pair of Sterling Silver Earrings -Silversmithing Workshop. | The BIS
Jun 28, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Hartlepool
Looking for a unique and creative experience? Join us at The Little Silver Kiln for a workshop on creating your own stunning sterling silver earrings!
During this exciting class, you'll learn traditional metalworking techniques as we guide you through the process of measuring, cutting, texturing, soldering, and polishing your earrings. You'll start off by practicing with copper before moving on to working with sterling silver. Choose from creating a pair of stylish studs or elegant drop earrings - the choice is yours!
Our workshop has limited spaces, meaning you'll have plenty of one-on-one time with our experienced tutor. Don't worry if you're a little nervous around the blowtorch, we'll take special care to make sure you're comfortable and safe throughout the process.
Our lead instructor, Carley, has years of experience in teaching and creating beautiful jewelry. She's a trained Applied Art specialist with a focus on ceramics, silversmithing, and textiles. In 2018, she founded The Little Silver Kiln with the goal of sharing her passion for jewelry making with others. Our studio opened in 2021 and has been helping students create stunning pieces ever since.
No previous experience is required to take part in this workshop, and we'll provide all the tools and guidance you need to create something truly special. Please bring your glasses if you need them for sight. This class is suitable for ages 18 and up, and 14-17 year olds can attend if accompanied by a paying and participating adult.
Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to learn something new, create beautiful jewelry, and have a fun and memorable experience! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email us at thelittlesilverkiln@mail.com or send us a message on Facebook. We can't wait to see you at our studio!
If you book onto our class here's all the important info!
First off, if you're joining us on a weekend or evening, please note that there won't be anyone in reception. Instead, you can find me in the foyer 10 minutes before the class starts, where I'll be there to greet you and get things started. And if for any reason you're running late, just pop me an email at thelittlesilverkiln@mail.com.
When it comes to getting here, please use the front entrance of the building. And for parking, you'll find spaces available at the Dover Street car park next to the building. Just make sure to check the signage for details on parking fees. And remember, there are permit zones on Whitby Street between 8am to 6pm, so be sure to read the street signs before you park. You can't miss the building, it has large white signs on the front!
Now, onto the fun stuff! Safety is super important to us, so please make sure to wear suitable clothing for the class. This means clothing that covers your legs and shoes that cover your feet (no sandals allowed!). And if you have long hair, don't forget to bring a hair tie. Scarves, ties, and loose clothing can be a fire hazard when working with the blow torch, so we want to make sure you're all set!
We'll be providing snacks, hot and cold drinks during the class. If you have any dietary requirements, just let us know beforehand and we'll do our best to accommodate you. And in case you're wondering, our studio equipment is fully vegan-friendly, meaning we don't use any leather or rawhide tools.
Lastly, please know that our studio is located on the first floor which is currently only accessible via stairs. There is a bathroom on the same floor so you will only need to use the stairs at the start and end of the class.
We can't wait to have you in our class! Just remember, if you need to leave by a certain time, please let us know so we can keep an eye on the clock sometimes if we're having lots of fun, the class can run over a little bit!
