This extraordinary event will take place at the beautiful Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande, California. The day's schedule includes registration and practice facilities opening at 9 am, with announcements at 10:15 am followed by a shotgun start at 10:30 am. Lunch stations will be available on the course from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. The day will conclude with an Awards Ceremony and Reception at 3 pm. The format for the event will consist of four amateurs paired with a Cal Poly Mustang Golfer or Alumni. The 24th annual March Triathlon Series, hosted by the esteemed Cal Poly Triathlon Team, proudly holds the title of being the longest running collegiate triathlon on the West Coast. This highly anticipated event originated as a senior project in 1998, taking place on the Cal Poly campus with a modest participation of 15 racers representing Cal Poly, Santa Barbara, and Cal Berkeley. The initial purpose of the race was to serve as a warm-up for the collegiate national championship race known as Wildflower. Over time, the March Triathlon Series evolved into a remarkable sporting spectacle. In 2004, it found its new home at Lake Lopez, Arroyo Grande, and henceforth became the March Triathlon Series as we know it today. The original race consisted of an 800-yard pool swim, a 23-mile bike ride along Hwy 1, and a 6-mile run through Cal Poly's scenic agricultural fields. Now, boasting a rich history of growth and success, the March Triathlon Series offers two race distances. The Sprint distance encompasses an 800-yard swim, a 12.3-mile bike ride, and a 3.1-mile run. Meanwhile, the Olympic distance presents a challenging course featuring a 1500-meter swim, a 24.7-mile bike ride, and a 6.2-mile run. Throughout its evolution, the March Triathlon Series has remained committed to its mission of providing a competitive sporting event that fosters athletic excellence, sportsmanship, and a genuine love for the sport. This commitment extends to athletes of all skill levels, whether they belong to age-group or collegiate categories, as they are welcomed to a safe and supportive environment. The Cal Poly Triathlon Team takes immense pride in hosting this event, as the proceeds directly support their athletes by offering affordable club team membership, discounted gear, and reduced race entry fees and travel expenses for collegiate races across California, including Collegiate Nationals.
