Welcome to our North East GAA Family Fun Day Come join us at Killingworth Young People's Club for a fun-filled 2 hours of Gaelic football, games and activities. Suitable for kids aged 5 - 16, this day will be a celebration of Irish games and culture. Children will have a chance to learn, play and take part in Gaelic football, games and activities. Newcastle upon Tyne GAA is proud to offer these free events for our children. We can do this with the help of our volunteers and key sponsors. Displaced is a non-profit monthly concert series where traditional & experimental sounds meet in spontaneity, unifying to create a space for their displaced sounds - a space for artists & audiences to share, feel, rage and heal together. This evening we will delve into the merging of soundworlds from Kristjan Kannukene, Morad Kashef, Nicole Bettencourt Coelho and Roxanna Albayati. Our time and profits are dedicated to supporting displaced communities from the South-West Asia & North Africa regions. Each month, a grassroots charity will be chosen, with whom our team has direct and reliable connections. This month, profits will be donated to the Emergency Response Coalition: Voices of the Unseen, a fundraiser created by a coalition of trusted civil society organizations, activists and community initiatives in Lebanon that represent the many communities affected by the on-going escalation of violence. So much depends is a series of five morning gatherings hosted by Leonie Herweg (GROTTO, Berlin) at Reference Point, inviting artists to share a work by another artist that has, over time, shaped, unsettled, or accompanied them. Each session unfolds as a conversation between past and present, self and other, tracing the resonances that form an artist’s lineage. What does it mean to find a kindred voice across time? How does art become a home, a site of recognition, or a quiet companionship? This series explores how we construct sensibility through what we inherit, admire, and can never quite shake off. Artists Leda Bourgogne, Ghislaine Leung, Zazou Roddam, Rebecca Ackroyd and Nicole Wermers invite us into their dialogues with a painting, a book, a film, a sound – a work that knocked uninvited, lingered, opened a door and went on to shift their perspective. We consider the deep companionship of art—not only as influence, but as a shared terrain where refuge is offered and communion with the work of one’s peers found. Juliette Hamilton will guide participants through a captivating morning workshop, crafting a magnificent dragonfly sculpture from willow. This engaging course is designed for beginners and improvers, offering clear instructions and visual demonstrations at every step. By the end of the session, attendees will take home a stunning dragonfly sculpture mounted on a stick, perfect for enhancing any living space or garden. All necessary materials will be provided, requiring only an apron and a pair of secateurs from participants. In this workshop you’ll use simple handmade stamps to print a beautiful and unique textile design, which you’ll use to make your lampshade. Using the exhibition as a starting point for ideas, artist and printmaker Sam Groom will guide you through the process of creating and printing your stamps. Sam will also show you how to play with colour, shape and composition in your design, as well as demonstrating a few techniques to create interesting textures. Once your fabric is ready, you’ll learn how to use it to create your unique and original drum lampshade to take home. All materials are included in the workshop, and no experience is necessary. Each performance is unique – musicians respond to each other and the environment around them, performing on clarinet, voice, dulcimer, recorders, nyckelharpa and more. This unique and special concert will also include another dimension – improvised musical dialogue with birdsong, in response to the Swift Sculpture display in the Millennium Gallery avenue. This relaxed concert is for anyone who prefers a more informal experience of listening to live music. Babies, young children and people with additional needs are all welcome – there’ll be cushions to sit and lie on and the opportunity to join in with playing music.
