Asher Milgate: Above / Below Part of Auckland Festival of Photography 2025 Award-winning artist Asher Milgate unveils Above / Below — his first international exhibition — this May at Satellite 2, Devonport, as part of the Auckland Festival of Photography 2025. Above / Below is a bold, site-specific exploration of memory, landscape, and perspective, where photography collides with materiality. Using a sewing machine to puncture, distort, and reweave the photographic surface, Milgate blurs the line between image and object — creating surreal, tactile works that invite viewers to question what lies beneath the visible world. Although Mount Eden is not high, it is overlooking the entire Auckland from the top of the mountain and has a particularly wide view.
